The story of 4Karma Studio is rooted in a shared passion for storytelling and a partnership that spans both life and work. As a husband-and-wife team, we have spent over ten years specializing in capturing the raw emotions and authentic moments of weddings, Quinceañeras, families, newborns, and elopements.

The Early Days & Background
Our journey began with two distinct creative paths. Hilly, originally from Rome, Italy, has spent her life exploring and finding beauty through a lens, eventually moving to California. Willy brought a background in landscape photography and videography, complemented by his skills as a musician and a certified drone pilot. Our individual artistic perspectives merged when we decided to combine our talents to offer a more comprehensive and personal approach to wedding media.

Building the Business
For years, we built a reputation for our work in the San Francisco Bay Area, gaining deep local knowledge and perfecting a style that balances candid, intimate moments with breathtaking aerial and landscape shots. Our evolution as a photography and videography team has been driven by a “day dreamer & night thinker” mentality, focusing on the magic of love and the unique dynamics of every couple we meet.

Where We Are Today
Now based in Hollywood, we have expanded our reach across Los Angeles, Southern California, and the Southwest. Today, our focus is on providing a personalized experience that goes beyond aesthetics, aiming to turn every “I do” into a collection of timeless, authentic memories.

To further elevate how we tell these stories, we have expanded our services to include dedicated Wedding Content Creation and Instant Same Day Edits for those who can’t wait to share their moments. We also offer Engagement Content Days featuring a mix of photos, reels, and drone footage, as well as unique keepsakes like custom wedding comic books. For a truly deep dive into your journey, we now create Personalized Wedding Story Films, which feature intimate interviews with the couple captured before the big day, seamlessly integrated with heartfelt messages from family.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It certainly hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many independent creators, our journey as a husband and wife team has been met with significant hurdles, particularly as the industry has shifted toward a more corporate, volume-driven landscape.
One of the greatest struggles we’ve faced is the rise of massive lead-generation platforms and “big box” wedding companies. These models have fundamentally changed the business, often making it difficult for small, authentic teams to compete. High-cost lead-generation sites create a “pay-to-play” environment where the visibility of a business is determined by its marketing budget rather than the quality of its work. For a small business, these exorbitant fees can be unsustainable, creating an unfair playing field where smaller, more specialized teams are priced out of reaching the couples they are best suited to serve.

Furthermore, we’ve seen a rise in large companies that hire non-specialized or inexperienced photographers and videographers, underpaying them while charging clients premium prices. This commodifies what should be a deeply personal service. These companies often prioritize volume over craft, resulting in a “revolving door” of staff who may lack the expertise required to navigate the high-stakes environment of a wedding day.

Beyond the competitive landscape, there is the challenge of the work itself, specifically the labor-intensive process of manual editing and the art of storytelling. In an era of instant gratification, it can be difficult to convey why the “slow” work matters. For us, every photo and film is meticulously hand-edited to ensure the mood and colors are perfect, and the storytelling is crafted to reflect the couple’s unique dynamic.

Unfortunately, we’ve found that for many, the value of this craftsmanship is overlooked.
