Today we’d like to introduce you to Turra.
Hi Turra , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I come from a family of musicians. I was raised in Concepción, Chile, and dedicated myself to music from a young age. I studied violin at the conservatory before transitioning to percussion, eventually becoming a professional drummer. Later, I pursued a degree in sound engineering to complement my path as a music producer, which is my current profession.
Some of my career highlights include:
Latin Grammy Winner, Latin Grammy Nominee, Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winner (as a Mix Engineer), participant in Grammy-nominated albums, and recipient of the “Golden Ears” award at the “Oídos de Oro” forum. I’m also the author of the best-selling book “Los Secretos de la Mezcla y la Masterización” (“The Mixing and Mastering Secrets Book”), and the designer of “The Red Alert” microphone by NDM Audio.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not everything has been a path of happiness — the effort and ups and downs are always present in an artist’s life. Lack of support, financial struggles, and rejection from society are some of the most common challenges in an artistic career.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a music producer — I create musical arrangements, handle recordings, compose songs, and take care of the engineering, mixing, and mastering process. I’m known for having an exceptional ear, which sets me apart from most. I’ve won Latin Grammys thanks to the mixes I’ve done, and I’m proud of every project I’ve worked on. It’s been 30 years of dedication, with over 500 albums and artists along the way.
How do you think about luck?
Being born into a family of musicians and being an adventurous man.
