Today we’d like to introduce you to Toiya Barnes
Hi Toiya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was introduced to music by my parents. We listened to jazz, blues, gospel and RnB in our home all the time. I absolutely loved it and we would dance and talk about the songs and what they meant. RnB and gospel were my favorite and they still are today.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road hasn’t not been perfect. I keep pushing and trying to get better because I know I belong here. I love gospel music and I really enjoy proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Christian artist and I also sing praise and worship in my local church.
I have released 3 music projects and they’re all available on iTunes and anywhere digital music is sold.
The first project is called New Thing under the name Toiya The Artist, the second is called El Elyon and the third is called God Most High. The last two are under the name Toiya B.
I am most proud of releasing my music and walking through the journey of releasing each one. The experience has been priceless!
What’s next?
Right now I’m in the beginning stages of creating a platform to sing my music along with some other local artists in the city.
