Daily Inspiration: Meet Tina Shahin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Shahin.

Hi Tina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I got introduced to Podiatric Medicine and Surgery when I was in college and sustained my own foot injury. My podiatrist had such a big impact on me and that’s when my interest in the field started. After I graduated from UCLA, I received my Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine and went on to complete a 3 year foot and ankle surgical residency in Ohio. I have since moved back to Los Angeles where I was born and raised. I currently practice in Burbank, CA.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Going through 11 years of education and training did come with its challenges. I grew up being very close to my family and being away from them for years was probably the most difficult thing I’ve done.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Board Certified Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. I specialize in foot and ankle surgery, wound care, limb salvage and lower extremity sports injuries. I’m blessed to go into work everyday to do what I love and help patients struggling with pain who are no longer able to live their active lifestyle. There’s no better feeling than getting patients back on their feet.

What makes you happy?
Although being in the health industry can be stressful- I’m grateful to help others and know that I make a difference and that ultimately makes me happy. Outside of work, I am happiest when I’m being a mother to my two sons who are both under 3 years old.
