Daily Inspiration: Meet Tim Maiden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Maiden.

Hi Tim, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hey guys, first thanks for having me. So I grew up in a musical home, which I’m so grateful for. Also grew up attending a Gospel church and it was just filled with incredible musicians. That was really a beautiful beginning for me and music. My father played the piano all the time when I was young and I always was drawn to the piano.
I started getting really interested in the piano and music my senior year of high school. I had a full ride basketball scholarship to get me to College and around my Sophomore year I realized I didn’t love it anymore so I moved back home and really jumped into music. I remember locking myself in my room 5,6 hrs at a time and teaching myself the piano all over again and writing my first songs.
I played in a band for a bit then 3,4 years later moved to New York City with my wife and started putting out my own music. It was a beautiful time and also scary as hell. We moved to the city with just our suit cases a little bit of money and no backup plan.. ha.. Anyways fast forward we wanted to come back west after a few years and all the folks I was playing and making music with were out here anyways. So we moved to Southern California area about 8 years and we fell in love with it.
I was introduced to coastal life and I fell in love with the ocean! I started making music with this producer now great friend Michael Cheever aka ‘Le Chev’ and we just had instant magic together.
I made an album with him which I am slowly releasing called ‘Love Songs in LA’. It will drop sometime in 2026, I can’t wait! I started playing out this year too. My last show was rad, we moved my real heavy ass piano into our front yard and I had about 90-100 people come listen, it was a beautiful night called the ‘Home Sessions’.
I feel like I’m writing my best most inspiring stuff currently and I can’t wait to record and play some of my new material live. The tunes feel free and deeply personal. Like something I have been trying to capture for years, a raw and timeless energy. 🙂

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not so smooth ha… I used to have way too many fantasies on how I would make it as a musician or that someone would come and save me and that was all bull shit… I learned the last few years how to put my big boy pants on and do whatever it takes. To be willing to work 2-3 jobs and get as scrappy as you need all the while not seeing yourself as a victim.
It’s given me more foundation to my music and I learned to embrace the ‘hard’ in life. I’ve had record deals fall through, money fall through but the constant has been I’ve never stopped sitting down on my piano bench and pouring my heart out on the keys. Music is my therapy and no matter where my journey takes me I’ll never leave the bench.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a singer-songwriter. I’m most proud of my ability to capture emotion and tell it in a way thats easy on the ears. I write and sing about love and heartache and everything in between. I’m known for being able to write a song anywhere at anytime ha.. Songs come to me ALLL the damn time.. Like I’m possessed or something lol..
I feel what maybe sets me apart from others is I’m an old soul. My music draws from a simple place where life is filled with more space and less stuff. I find myself not always fitting in in this modern world but I’m okay with that.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
hmmm.. Not sure I have been on the receiving end of good luck all the time.. But.. Lately what I’ve noticed is the more sustainable I am and the more I am figuring things out on my own the more the universe is bringing folks to help me. So thats been neat to see.
