Today we’d like to introduce you to Reggie P. Louix.
Hi Reggie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I began my acting journey in South Florida back in 2011 with a stage play. I still remember the adrenaline rush and absolute nervousness of my first audition. I remember not having a clue about what I was doing. I booked the part and the rest was history. I began auditioning for various plays and films locally and did as much as acting as I possibly could. I eventually decided to move to Atlanta in 2016 and had a new and fruitful experience there. I continued to audition for more serious roles and began attending acting classes and workshops to further my skillset. Then I made the big decision in 2018. I drove across the country and moved to La La Land. That’s when the real work started. I began studying at Identity School of Acting and received unforgettable training. I have worked on various short films, commercials, and plays since moving here. I still fancy myself a student of the craft and I always will be. The training never ends and every opportunity to perform is an honor and a lesson. I love this art form and I love to be a part of it. Because it is a part of me…
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This road has not been a smooth road. This art/business is a violent roller coaster that has more downs than lows.It is full of rejection and feelings of unworthiness that requires a tenacity beyond belief. You have to have self love and enough belief in yourself to keep the love for the art beating strong. And then there is your personal life outside of the industry that you also have to maintain and nurture. The love for this art form is the ONLY fuel that can keep the train moving in the direction you want to go.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an actor and writer, specializing in acting. I have an early memory of a field trip of going to see a live production of “Sleepy Hollow” when I was in middle school and I fell in love with the idea of performing. I love to understand characters, human behavior, and why people do the things they do. If I had to guess, I would say most people know me for that. I am also an artist in other manners I love finding the nooks and crannies of a person and brining it to life. I also love writing. I love creating worlds and stories and imagining it coming to life. I have had my writings produced in the past and have even won an award for one of my scripts at a film festival. I am most proud of being a part of Hillman Grad’s Inaugural Mentorship program in 2021. That program changed my life and the trajectory of my career. It was a program where I was able to grow and learn, in a creative and business sense. To this day, I maintain a great relationship with the program and the beautiful people that are a part of it.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Making other people feel something makes me happy. I love motivating people. I love making people cry. I love making people laugh. I love making people think. I love making people feel like they aren’t alone. The art of performing allows me to do all of that. And acting allows me to feel all of those things within myself when I am doing the work.
