Today we’d like to introduce you to Phillene Alexander.
Phillene, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into entrepreneurship started during a very personal and quiet season of my life. On the outside, I was working in finance and doing all the practical things, but on the inside, I felt God gently calling me into something deeper, something more meaningful and aligned with love and faith. During that time, I was healing, growing, and learning how to truly trust God’s timing. In that stillness, the vision for Ethereil Jewelry was placed on my heart.
Even the name is intentional. Ethereil is inspired by the word ethereal, which means heavenly, spiritual, and beyond the ordinary, something delicate yet divine, as if touched by heaven itself. I replaced the “a” with an “I” to represent the Great I Am, the name God revealed to Moses in Scripture, symbolizing His eternal presence, sovereignty, and unchanging nature. For me, it serves as a reminder that God simply is, our provider, our peace, our beginning and our end. It was important to me that the brand would always point back to God and carry His presence at the center of it.
I wanted to create pieces that were not just beautiful, but meaningful, something that could comfort, encourage, and remind women that they are loved and not forgotten. The heart of Ethereil is the message that Jesus is love, expressed through Cross and Heart motifs that symbolize faith, devotion, sacrifice, and divine love. The rings carry the message, “bear your Cross as you wait for your Crown,” a reflection of perseverance, faith, and trusting God’s promise through every season. It was a message I was living in real time.
It has not been a perfect or linear journey. There were moments of doubt, doors that did not open, and seasons when I had to keep going even when I could not see the full picture. Those experiences shaped me. They deepened my faith, refined my voice, and clarified the vision.
Now, as I step into new opportunities and share Ethereil with more people, it feels incredibly special because I know where it came from. It came from a real place, a real journey, and a real relationship with God and I truly believe this is only the beginning.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but it has been very real and deeply stretching in the best way. There were seasons when progress felt slow, and I was learning everything on my own, from the business side to the creative side, while still managing a career and everyday responsibilities. At times it felt overwhelming, and I had moments where I questioned whether I was doing enough or even on the right path. I once read that healing is not linear and success is not a monolith, and that deeply resonated with me because my journey has reflected both. It reminded me that growth is not a straight path and success does not look the same for everyone; there are moments of progress, pauses, and rediscovery, and each season carries its own purpose. That is the beauty of faith, because a faith that cannot be tested cannot be trusted.
A big personal shift for me was deciding to stop waiting until everything felt perfect and simply start showing up as I am. I remember hearing Emma Grede, my business sensei, say, “start with yourself,” and that perspective stayed with me. It gave me permission to begin exactly where I was, with what I had, and to trust that authenticity was enough. I began sharing my work, putting myself out there, and taking small, consistent steps forward. That required courage, and through that process I have been building confidence and learning to truly enjoy the journey rather than rush the outcome.
Now, as I see Ethereil growing and stepping into new spaces, it feels especially meaningful because I know how much heart, faith, and perseverance have gone into every step along the way.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Professionally, I work in finance, specifically in risk management, where I focus on evaluating, managing, and protecting against financial risk. My background has given me a strong foundation in structure, strategy, and analytical thinking, which has shaped the way I approach both my career and my business.
Alongside my professional work, I am the founder of Ethereil Jewelry, a Christian faith-centered brand rooted in love, devotion, and spiritual meaning. Through Ethereil, I create pieces that are not only beautiful but intentional, designed to serve as reminders of faith, identity, and becoming.
My work naturally blends strategy and creativity. The discipline and problem-solving mindset I developed in finance influences how I build and grow my brand, allowing me to approach creativity with clarity and purpose. I am known for creating with intention and a bit of luxury, while staying grounded in values that reflect faith, love, and authenticity.
What I am most proud of is building something that genuinely reflects who I am. Ethereil is more than a business; it is an extension of my journey and a way to create meaningful connection through design. Seeing others resonate with the message behind the brand has been incredibly rewarding.
What sets me apart is my commitment to creating from a place of purpose. Everything I build is rooted in meaning, with the hope that each piece serves as a reminder that we are loved, guided, and never forgotten.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that might surprise people is that I am actually very quiet and introspective behind the scenes. While Ethereil expresses beauty, faith, and emotion outwardly, much of my creative process happens in stillness. I am naturally reflective and spend a lot of time thinking, praying, and observing before I share anything with the world.
People often see the creative and expressive side of the brand, but they may not realize how structured and analytical I am in my everyday life. My background in finance means I am often planning, organizing, and carefully thinking things through, even when it comes to creativity. There is a gentle balance between faith and strategy that guides how I create.
I think what surprises people most is how much I am growing alongside the brand. Ethereil is not just something I built; it has been building me too. It has taught me confidence, patience, and how to show up imperfectly but faithfully. Behind the polished pieces is someone still learning, still trusting, and still becoming, and honestly, that has been one of the most beautiful parts of the journey.
