Daily Inspiration: Meet Patrik Simpson Pol’ Atteu

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrik Simpson Pol’ Atteu.

Hi Patrik Simpson, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our journey is really the story of two careers in fashion and entertainment that eventually merged into one creative partnership and brand. Between us, we’ve spent decades working in couture fashion, television, photography, and media—and each chapter helped shape where we are today.

Pol’ Atteu began his career more than 35 years ago as a couture designer and built the luxury fashion house **Pol’ Atteu Beverly Hills**, known for its dramatic silhouettes, intricate hand-beading, and signature crystal embellishments. Over the years, Pol’ has designed for an incredible range of clients—from legendary Hollywood icons to Real Housewives and rising young stars. His couture creations have been worn by the iconic **Betty White**, as well as **Anna Nicole Smith**, **Carrie Underwood**, **Bella Thorne**, **Ariel Winter**, **Sandra Denton**, **Cynthia Bailey**, **Garcelle Beauvais**, **Sutton Stracke**, **Scheana Shay**, **Teresa Giudice**, **Adrienne Maloof**, **Sharon Davis**, and **Taja Abitbol**, among many others across television, music, film, and reality entertainment.

One of the most meaningful chapters of our lives involved our close friendship with the late **Anna Nicole Smith**. Anna wasn’t just a client—she was truly our best friend and someone who became like family to us. Pol’ was her personal designer and confidant, and both of us were part of her circle during those years. We both appeared on **The Anna Nicole Show**, which introduced us to television audiences. After Anna’s passing, we felt a deep responsibility to honor her legacy and tell the real story of the woman we knew and loved. That led us to write the tribute book **Anna Nicole Smith: Portrait of an Icon**, where we shared personal memories and untold stories about her life.

Patrik Simpson’s path into the entertainment industry also began in fashion. He was an international runway model who worked for **Versace** and other major designers before transitioning into photography. As a photographer, Patrik shot celebrities and fashion personalities for publications including *People*, *Life & Style*, and *Los Angeles Style*. He later moved into casting, producing, and hosting, building a career that blended creativity with storytelling and media production.

As our professional lives began overlapping more and more, it became clear that our strengths complemented each other. Pol’ brought decades of couture design expertise and celebrity clientele, while Patrik brought producing, branding, photography, and media experience. That partnership eventually led to the creation of our reality television series **Gown and Out in Beverly Hills**, where we serve as creators, executive producers, and stars of the show. The series takes viewers behind the scenes of the glamorous and unpredictable world of celebrity couture and has streamed globally while receiving both Telly Awards and American Reality Television Awards.

In addition to television, we’ve appeared across numerous networks and media outlets including Bravo, E!, Lifetime, TLC, VH1, Oxygen, CNN, HLN, NBC, ABC, and BBC. We are also **regular co-hosts on** **Jeff Lewis Live**, the popular SiriusXM program hosted by **Jeff Lewis**, where we frequently join the show to talk about fashion, celebrity culture, and pop culture.

We later expanded into podcasting with **Undressed with Pol’ and Patrik**, where we interview celebrities, comedians, reality stars, and industry insiders while sharing unfiltered stories from our lives in fashion and Hollywood.

Most recently, Patrik is starring as **Owen Windsor** in the upcoming series **Ventura Shores**, a glamorous, campy soap-opera-style drama in the spirit of classic shows like **Dynasty**. Pol’ also serves as lead costume designer for *Ventura Shores* as well as the Emmy-winning soap opera **The Bay**, bringing his couture aesthetic into the world of scripted television.

Looking back, what started as separate careers in fashion, photography, and television gradually evolved into a shared world of couture, television, podcasting, and storytelling. Today our lives blend design, media, and entertainment—and whether we’re creating couture, filming a show, or interviewing a celebrity guest, our goal is always the same: to entertain, inspire, and bring a little glamour and personality to everything we do.

And the most exciting part is that after decades in the industry, we still feel like we’re just getting started. ✨

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our journey has definitely not been a perfectly smooth road. Like many people building careers in fashion and entertainment, we’ve experienced incredible highs—but also very real challenges that tested our resilience both personally and professionally.

The fashion and entertainment industries are extremely competitive. When Pol’ began building **Pol’ Atteu Beverly Hills** more than 35 years ago, establishing a couture brand required relentless work, creativity, and perseverance. Couture isn’t just about designing beautiful gowns—it’s about maintaining craftsmanship, building trust with clients, and constantly evolving in an industry where trends change quickly and competition is intense.

One of the most emotional chapters of our lives involved our close friendship with the late **Anna Nicole Smith**. Anna wasn’t just a client—she was truly our best friend and someone who became like family to us. Pol’ was her personal designer and confidant, and Patrik was also deeply connected to that chapter of our lives. We both appeared on **The Anna Nicole Show**, but the deeper story of our friendship was something much more personal. After Anna’s passing, we wrote the tribute book **Anna Nicole Smith: Portrait of an Icon**, sharing personal memories and honoring the woman we knew behind the headlines. Losing her was devastating and changed us profoundly.

Personal loss has shaped both of us in powerful ways. Pol’ lost his mother to breast cancer when she was only 50 years old, a tragedy that deeply impacted him and our lives. In her memory, we created the **Pol’ Atteu Charitable Foundation** to help raise awareness and support efforts related to cancer research and patient support. More recently, Patrik lost his mother after a long battle with **Alzheimer’s disease** three years ago. Watching someone you love slowly fade away to Alzheimer’s is incredibly traumatic and it changes your perspective on life, family, and purpose.

We’ve also faced challenges that tested our sense of safety and stability. About five years ago, Pol’ was the victim of a homophobic hate crime attack that was widely reported. It was frightening, but it also strengthened our resolve to live openly and proudly. During the COVID era, our property was broken into and looted during the unrest that affected parts of Los Angeles, forcing us to rebuild during an already difficult time for businesses.

Most recently, we were the victims of a violent road rage attack in Hollywood that was captured on video and widely reported in the media. It was a terrifying experience that reminded us how unpredictable life can be and how important it is to stay grounded and support each other.

Through all of these experiences, we’ve tried to turn hardship into something positive by giving back whenever we can. Supporting charities and organizations that help others has become an important part of our lives. In addition to the **Pol’ Atteu Charitable Foundation**, we’ve worked with organizations including **Best Buddies International**, **Make-A-Wish Foundation**, the **John Wayne Cancer Foundation**, the **Alzheimer’s Association**, as well as charitable groups like **Legacy Ladies** and the **Dee Dee Jackson Foundation**. Being able to use our platform—whether through fashion, television, or events—to raise awareness and support causes that help others is something that means a great deal to us.

Professionally, building a brand together in the public eye also comes with its own challenges. Creating and starring in **Gown and Out in Beverly Hills** opened incredible opportunities, but reality television also means your life and business are visible to the public in ways most careers are not. It requires thick skin, resilience, and a strong partnership.

Through every challenge—personal loss, public scrutiny, business setbacks, and even dangerous situations—we’ve learned that resilience is everything. Those obstacles have shaped who we are today and strengthened our partnership. They remind us that success isn’t just about the glamorous moments on television or the red carpet—it’s about perseverance, gratitude, and continuing to move forward while helping others along the way. ✨

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Our work really sits at the intersection of couture fashion, television, and entertainment storytelling. Pol’ is best known as the couture designer behind **Pol’ Atteu Beverly Hills**, where he specializes in dramatic, custom-designed gowns known for their intricate hand-beading, crystals, and glamorous silhouettes. His aesthetic is very classic Hollywood—luxury, sparkle, and statement pieces that make people feel confident and unforgettable on the red carpet or on television.

Over the years, Pol’ has designed for an incredible range of clients, from legendary Hollywood icons like **Betty White** to music and television personalities such as **Carrie Underwood** and **Sandra Denton**. His couture has also become popular among reality television personalities including **Teresa Giudice**, **Adrienne Maloof**, **Cynthia Bailey**, **Sutton Stracke**, **Scheana Shay**, **Garcelle Beauvais**, **Bella Thorne**, **Ariel Winter**, and **Taja Abitbol**, among many others.

Another unique part of what Pol’ is known for is his ability to read **Armenian coffee cup grounds**, a cultural tradition where the patterns left in the coffee grounds are interpreted for insight and symbolism. Over the years Pol’ has read the Armenian coffee cups of many celebrities, friends, and guests, and it has become something people are fascinated by. Today it’s a signature segment featured weekly on our podcast **Undressed with Pol’ and Patrik**, where many of our celebrity guests love having their coffee cups read on-air.

Patrik’s work focuses more on the media and storytelling side of what we do. He began his career as an international runway model working with **Versace** before transitioning into photography, where he shot celebrities and fashion personalities for publications like *People*, *Life & Style*, and *Los Angeles Style*. From there he moved into casting, producing, hosting, and television development.

Together we’ve built a brand that blends fashion and entertainment. We created and star in **Gown and Out in Beverly Hills**, which gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the glamorous world of celebrity couture and Hollywood personalities. We’re also regular co-hosts on **Jeff Lewis Live** hosted by **Jeff Lewis**, and we host our own podcast **Undressed with Pol’ and Patrik**, where we interview celebrities, reality stars, comedians, and pop culture personalities while sharing stories from our lives in fashion and entertainment.

Most recently, Patrik is starring as **Owen Windsor** in **Ventura Shores**, a glamorous, campy soap-opera-style drama in the spirit of classic shows like **Dynasty**, while Pol’ serves as lead costume designer for *Ventura Shores* and the Emmy-winning soap opera **The Bay**.

What we’re most proud of is that we’ve built a career that blends creativity with authenticity. What sets us apart is that we don’t just design fashion or talk about entertainment—we live in that world every day. Our work combines couture design, television, storytelling, and even a little intuition through Pol’s coffee readings.

At the end of the day, we specialize in creating memorable moments—whether it’s a couture gown, a television scene, or a conversation with a celebrity that audiences connect with. And we try to do it all with glamour, humor, and heart. ✨

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
For Pol’, one of the memories that shaped his life happened very early. Growing up, he always had a fascination with fashion, fabrics, and design. He remembers spending time with his mother watching her sew and create things by hand, which sparked his love for craftsmanship and beautiful garments. Those early moments planted the seed for what would eventually become **Pol’ Atteu Beverly Hills**. His mother was incredibly supportive of his creativity, and those memories of encouragement stayed with him long after she passed away from breast cancer when she was only 50. In many ways, that early inspiration from her continues to influence everything he creates today.

For Patrik, one of the defining childhood memories was discovering the world of performance and storytelling in school. Performing in Mr. Gililland’s drama class and appearing in the school production of *The Life and Death of Sneaky Fitch* was the moment he realized how much he loved the entertainment world—it was the moment the “entertainment industry bug” first hit.

Another childhood experience that had a huge impact on him happened when he was just 11 years old. He was sent to the Philippines to live with his best friend’s family for a period of time, which was a life-changing experience. Being immersed in another culture at such a young age opened his eyes to the world and sparked a lifelong love of travel and adventure. That early exposure to different cultures and perspectives helped shape his curiosity and creativity, something that later influenced his career working internationally in fashion, modeling, photography, and entertainment.

Looking back, those early moments seem small, but they ended up shaping the direction of our entire lives. Pol’ found his passion in fashion and design, and Patrik discovered his love for storytelling, performance, and exploring the world—things that ultimately helped lead us both into the creative industries where we built our careers today.
