Today we’d like to introduce you to Miles Low.
Hi Miles, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a hip-hop artist from las Vegas, Nevada. Brand new to Los Angeles. Moved out here to become the production coordinator for an all-new black-owned talk radio station, KBLA 1580AM, which we successfully launched Juneteenth 2021. since then, it’s been a journey balancing a 9-5 at a radio station and a24-7 music career, but I think I’ve managed. Since then we’ve had an extremely successful 1st year at KBLA, as well as manage to travel and perform with my band, I also launched a battle rap league back home that has me still locked into my roots there and allows recording with my home base, and band rehearsals on a regular.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has not been a smooth road, but it’s been a clear path. By clear path, I don’t mean it’s no obstacles to climb, I mean it’s clear that I’m on the right path and what the next step is.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As an artist, I’d say I’m a storyteller with my music. I usually get labeled as a POSITIVE or CONSCIOUS rapper, but I think that’s limiting. I may be a generally positive person, but I represent unapologetically for my people and people who grew up like me and can relate to my life and struggle. Not every story is light. Some are dark, some are scary, some aren’t safe for work. What sets me apart is my dedication to lyricism. I’m a well-known battle rapper from back in my high school days. I currently have the highest-viewed rap battle on YouTube, with over 18 million views currently. I’m known for never budging on being a disciplined wordsmith since then. When I first fell in love with rap and knew I wanted to pursue music, I promised myself to keep that part of the art form alive though my music, and so far I haven’t let younger Miles down… that’s what I’m most proud of. Staying true to myself from the first rhyme at my nonnies house.
Radio was always my plan to maneuver my way through the music world. Started as an intern when I was 17, fresh out of high school. From the 1st day I walked into that internship, radio never left my life. From college radio (91.5 KUNV Las Vegas) to FM radio back home (KCEP 88.1 FM Las Vegas), to syndicated afternoon drive time radio (The Michael Baisden Show), and now it steered me right to the city of angels working with my people as a part of the first black-owned Talk radio station west of the Mississippi. (KBLA Talk 1580 AM)
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Getting everything you ever wanted, the way you always planned it.
