Today we’d like to introduce you to Larry Green.
Hi Larry, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story is rooted in Charlottesville, Virginia, where faith, hard work, and deep community connections formed my bedrock. Standing 6’5″ by the time I was 13, sports were a natural focal point, leading me to play Division-I basketball at the United States Naval Academy. That athletic and competitive foundation, combined with the discipline instilled during my active-duty service as a Navy Supply Officer, taught me how to perform under intense pressure, read complex environments, and master non-traditional learning.
After completing my military service, I built a career spanning corporate leadership and organizational health. Today, I work on the Health and Performance Team at Google, where I help senior leaders and organizations thrive, build capacity, and get upstream from burnout. I am also the host of the “100 Level Podcast”— where I sit at the intersection of different lived experiences and amplify these conversations for mutual learning and growth.
Along the way, I developed the “Human Operating System”, a holistic framework that integrates central nervous system regulation, capacity building, system architecture, and relational alignment across the heart, soul, mind, body, and social domains. Everything I do—whether coaching, facilitating global workshops, or producing media—is designed to help individuals unlock their human potential and make it accessible.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has certainly not been a smooth road. Navigating high-stakes environments and corporate America as a Black man has presented unique systemic challenges—including encountering subtle stereotypes, being underestimated, and facing a pronounced “glass ceiling” where my contributions were treated as a force multiplier for others rather than a path to my own leadership advancement.
Throughout my career, I’ve faced intense moments of friction, such as having my strategic work co-opted without credit or dealing with biased assumptions about my capabilities and intellectual capacity in rooms where few people share my background. Rather than letting those obstacles become roadblocks, I treated them as valuable data. I learned how to separate my identity from corporate structures, establish healthy boundaries, and lean heavily into the core essence of who I am. Those very struggles forged the adaptiveness, resilience, and intelligence that now form the bedrock of my career and the Human Operating System framework—proving that setbacks are not final, but rather powerful catalysts for growth, mastery, and reinvention.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I serve as a global leadership facilitator, executive coach, and speaker, working with corporate executives, professionals and organizations to help them thrive as they pursue their business goals. I specialize in helping people get upstream from burnout, build individual and organizational capacity, and navigate high-stakes complexity in fast-moving environments.
I am widely known for creating the “Human Operating System” (hOS)—a rigorous diagnostic framework that integrates the biology of the Central Nervous System with a practical approach for development. Different from personality tests, hOS functions like a stress test for human behavior under pressure. Through a structured and holistic approach, it measures capacity, foundational structure and relationship dynamics to help people navigate life as it happens.
The *100 Level Podcast*, is inspired by the African indigenous philosophy of *Ubuntu* (“I am because we are”) and the belief that we are stronger together.
**What I am most proud of:**
I am most proud of my ability to take the eclectic, high-pressure lessons from my foundational years—playing Division-I basketball at the United States Naval Academy and serving on active duty as a Navy Supply Officer—and translate them into practical, life-changing tools for students, athletes, and corporate executives. Whether helping a team reduce operational friction or building frameworks that empower people to unlock their true potential, my greatest joy is seeing others discover their capacity to lead, adapt, and reinvent themselves.
**What sets me apart:**
One major thru-line across my career is that I have learned to operate and be successful in dynamic environments where adaptability is critical. For example, as a Black man in corporate America, there are a number of systemic factors that make my experience more dynamic. In sports, the essence of competing in front of huge crowds requires being adaptable in dynamic environments. As an officer in the military, you must adapt to changing variables and high-stakes uncertainty. And in Silicon Valley, the tech world is always moving at a rapid, dynamic pace.
All of the elements of the Human Operating System are directly inspired by these lived experiences. What sets me apart is that I don’t just offer abstract motivational advice; I approach human performance through a holistic, multi-disciplinary, and nervous-system-informed lens that bridges elite athletics, military discipline, and Silicon Valley innovation.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality most essential to my success is adaptability—the ability to dynamically read a changing environment, absorb sudden friction or chaos, and recalibrate without losing my internal core.
Throughout my career, from playing Division-I basketball at the United States Naval Academy and serving on active duty as a Navy Supply Officer, to navigating high-stakes dynamics as a Black man in corporate America and building programs in Silicon Valley, I have learned that rigidity is the enemy of progress. Success doesn’t come from a fixed script; it comes from having the resilience to treat setbacks as valuable data, the intelligence to learn continuously, and the agility to meet the moment no matter how fast the terrain shifts.
