Daily Inspiration: Meet Jennifer MacDonald

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer MacDonald.

Hi Jennifer, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
While working as a Physician Assistant one summer, I signed my daughter up for a summer art camp. When I came to pick her up, I felt like I walked into the creative womb that I was meant to be born into. Everything about the workshop was warm and encouraged creativity. So I started to take classes there myself, falling in love with the workshop each time I was there. When the opportunity presented itself, I decided to leave my career to become a small business owner in an area that feeds my creative soul.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. I had to learn all the ins and outs of being a small business owner very quickly as the workshop needed to continue to run while I transitioned into being an owner. There was a steep learning curve, that’s for sure! Also, when I took over AR Workshop, we were still deep in Covid with heavy restrictions from the county, so that proved to be a challenge in running the shop.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
AR Workshop is your destination for all things DIY! Our charming boutique studio offers hands-on craft classes, group activities, private parties, and a curated selection of gifts and on-trend home decor. I am most proud of the experience that we can provide guests. Our unique projects and designs and our awesome customer service set us apart from our competitors.
