Daily Inspiration: Meet Jennifer Farrell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Farrell.

Hi Jennifer, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was always a design lover, and a born entertainer, even as a kid. I opened my firm Jennifer Farrell Designs in 2001, which was right around the time that home makeover television was becoming huge. By 2003, I was a regular on my first design tv show. Those two sides of my career have been operating side-by-side for the last 20 years.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think one of the biggest challenges has been to not be pigeonholed as a “tv designer.” There’s an assumption in the luxury design community that if you’re on television, you’re a tv personality and not a “real” designer. It took a long time to break that stereotype.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m incredibly proud of my product collections. Jennifer Farrell for Global Views is a 20-category world of furniture, rugs, lighting, art, accents, and decor that took years to create. Designing every one of those pieces was a personal labor of love. The Jennifer Farrell Livable Luxury Collection with Emser Tile is a beautiful collection that truly resonates with my core as a designer. I’m very proud of both collections. And the multi-year showhome experiences I create are their own unique model, as a hybrid between a design concept home and marketing journey. Right now I’m working on I.C.E. House: Interconnected Changeable Environments as a global destination showhome experience in the South of France. I feel it will be one of the highlights of my career.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Follow along on the journey of I.C.E. House: Interconnected Changeable Environments. It’s my vision of the multi-structure, ancient-meets-modern, adaptable home of the future.
