Daily Inspiration: Meet High Tatras

Today we’d like to introduce you to High Tatras.

Hi High, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Nic: ” After a few years playing with Zodiac Death Valley, an Americana-Psych band in San Francisco, I moved to L.A and threw up an ad on Craigslist to get High Tatras’ wheels in motion.

Maria: ” I’ve been playing drums since I was 12 and was really active in the Italian music scene, but when I first moved to LA from Italy, I didn’t know a soul. Back then, the easiest way to find a band was Craigslist – which is actually how High Tatras came together. We all met through Craigslist, and somehow got lucky enough to find such a strong creative synergy right away.
This is not our full story, this is just the beginning…

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Right after we started in 2019, we were playing all over town and felt like things were really going in the right direction, but then… the pandemic hit and the whole world shut down. We basically went on a forced 2-years hiatus, and when everything reopened it felt like a very different scenario altogether. We finally started playing again, with a new appreciation for how valuable is to be able to play music, be creative , travel and make new friends and now we never wanna stop.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
High Tatras’ music is a blend of dark-Americana, psychedelia, and freak folk.
We’ve recorded a full-length album, two EPs, and several singles, and have also done some licensing work — but our real strength has always been our live shows. That’s where we give everything we’ve got.
We’ve been playing consistently in Los Angeles, while also booking several shows in Austin, Chicago, San Diego, San Francisco, Toronto, Montreal.
We played events for Desert Daze, Mad Alchemy, The Witching Hours, etc. and shared the stage with Pink Mountaintops, Tremours, The Stevenson Ranch Davidians.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
