Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriela Neves
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Im a cliche honestly, Ive always loved photography and was always carrying some kind of camera around. Im from Brazil and when I was on my teen years our popular social media was called Orkut and I was kinda famous there for my self portraits. I put the camera down when I started collage a couple years ago and didn’t think much about it anymore. But then I moved to the states and as I was visiting places photography was all I could think about so I got myself I film camera and started a instagram page for my silly little photos. By that time I couldn’t see myself doing anything else in life I was just obsessed again, so I got a digital camera as a gift from my partner that has always been supportive on my career and then I started taking it serious. I feel like I’m just beginning with my journey and Im equally excited and scared for what’s ahead.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been better than I thought it was going to be but smooth is not the word to define your path if you’re an artist. Its so competitive there are so many good photographers out there and on top of that there are some days when you can’t avoid just compare yourself.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Im a photographer based in Los Angeles, I shoot mainly portraits but, I also work on events. Film is my all time passion so I think my film portraits are my big speciality. I think what I’m most proud of is the decision I made to move abroad and on top of that leave my career behind to start with photography. I think Im a very ordinary person actually, I just try a lot.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
hmm I wasn’t I child that had a lot of friend and as my parents might have been worried about that I think it helped me to create my own world and be comfortable with myself, so I would say when I used to play dress up and pretend I was in some fairy tale book.
