Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Steele.
Hi Emily, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After accomplishing what I once believed was my ultimate goal, earning my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and building a stable career in Connecticut, I started to realize that I was craving something more. I had completed what my father coined as my first “Masterplan”: becoming a doctor and securing the career I had worked so hard for. But deep down, I knew there was another chapter waiting for me. A few months ago, at the start of 2026 I made the decision to leave behind my 9-to-5, move to Los Angeles, and fully bet on myself. During that transition, I created a series called The Masterplan 2.0, documenting 50 days of my journey of stepping into the unknown and rebuilding my life with more intention, creativity, and purpose. Since moving to LA, I’ve immersed myself in opportunities that allow me to connect with people through healthcare, storytelling, art, and social media. My ultimate goal has been to create meaningful impact, inspire people to take chances on themselves, and show that reinvention is possible at any stage of life. This experience has challenged me in every way, but it has also confirmed that the most rewarding growth happens when you’re willing to leave comfort behind and pursue a life that feels deeply aligned with who you are becoming.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges I faced when moving to Los Angeles was arriving without a California physical therapy license and without a clear job lined up. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I was standing still. I had left behind stability, familiarity, and the career path I had worked years to build, only to find myself in a completely new city trying to figure out where I fit. There were many moments where I felt incredibly lost and uncertain about whether I had made the right decision. LA can be both inspiring and overwhelming, especially when you’re rebuilding from scratch. But that period of uncertainty became one of the most important parts of my journey. It forced me to become resilient, resourceful, and intentional about the kind of life I wanted to create. This sort of purgatory allowed me to step into reinvention. Those first months pushed me to lean deeper into creativity, connection, and building opportunities for myself. I refused to stand still and wait for an opportunity to appear. I stumbled onto sets for the largest YouTube channels in the world, found myself behind the camera modeling for commercials and fashion brands, and walking red carpets with some of the most recognizable faces in modern media. I say all this because it all looks glamorous from the outside, but the road has been anything but smooth and all the challenges prior to my move to LA shaped me into the type of person who pivots quickly, trusts myself under pressure, and blossom in moments of uncertainty.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a physical therapist by profession, but over the past two years I’ve also made it my mission to support students and new graduates entering the healthcare field. After graduating, I quickly realized how overwhelming the transition into the workforce can feel, especially as a new clinician trying to build confidence while navigating the pressures of adult life. Through social media and content creation, I built a platform focused on helping physical therapists and healthcare professionals feel seen, understood, and supported during that stage of life. I share honest conversations, practical advice, and relatable experiences surrounding patient care, professional growth, confidence, burnout, and finding your identity within the field. My goal has always been to create a sense of community while giving others the tools and encouragement I wish I had when I first started. Beyond treating patients, I’m passionate about using storytelling, creativity, and connection to make healthcare feel more human, for both clinicians and the people they care for. At the same time, I hope to inspire healthcare workers to find passions outside of the field and look to create connection in unexpected areas.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is seeing the direct impact I can have on someone’s life through healthcare. Watching a patient regain confidence, walk again, return to the activities they love, or simply feel hopeful about their body again is incredibly rewarding. I think most healthcare professionals enter this field because they genuinely want to help people, and for me, that purpose has only grown stronger over time. There’s something powerful about being a catalyst in someone’s recovery journey and helping them regain pieces of their independence, identity, and quality of life. Whether it’s a small milestone or a major breakthrough, those moments remind me why I chose this profession in the first place. Beyond the physical progress, I love building relationships with people and creating an environment where they feel supported, understood, and encouraged during vulnerable moments in their lives.
