Today we’d like to introduce you to Elani Kay.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story began by simply being approached by someone when I was in college who wanted to introduce me to a different way of thinking. They showed me the difference between earned income and passive income, they introduced having a strong mindset, and what it looks like to be an entrepreneur. I learned that I had a real passion for wanting more, learning more, and removing the invisible ceiling when it came to setting goals and creating a vision for the future. Over the years, I took action and started businesses, formed partnerships, and followed through with pushing forward to create more platforms for others. With a music background and then a radio background and managing my oldest son, who became a SAG-AFTRA actor, I combined all of this in to what I created. Ultimately life led me to being a Mom of three sons, having multiple businesses, and navigating through the entertainment industry.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In previous interviews I’ve shared about struggles with external gossip, ‘haters,’ and non-supporters, and I’ve also shared about struggles with balancing life of being a Mother and business owner. In this interview, I’d like to talk more about understanding one’s financial blue print. I am sure that there’s not one person who wouldn’t happily accept winning the lottery, but if they were to have the option to pay for a financial literacy course or to receive a crash course on managing finances, most likely not everyone would choose that. It’s said that many lottery winners end up facing financial troubles down the road. The reason for this is the lack of understanding money, understanding how it works, and the importance of healthy cashflow. One of my struggles was not having the experience with fully being disciplined when it came to money. Meaning, my financial blue print was built on receiving money easily while growing up, so I didn’t have to exercise extreme discipline with my spending. This resulted in not managing my budgets, overhead, projected sales, and my numbers as well as I could have. I didn’t have a CFO, so I was operating on a learning curve with my first brick and mortar business. Had I taken more time to truly understand my financial blue print, I could have prevented avoidable mistakes. I feel that would have made the road I’ve been on much easier. I encourage entrepreneurs to learn what their financial blue print is and if that blueprint isn’t set up for success, then do what needs to be done to change it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve lived in Southern California for about 9 years. As a Bay Area native and Asian American woman with mixed sons, I believe that my energy alone is what sets me a part from others. I moved my sons and I to Southern California only having one friend who was local, who wasn’t in the entertainment industry. When I took over my first brick and mortar business, an entertainment building, I accomplished in five years what I believe can take people decades to accomplish. I’ve taken my accomplishments now moving forward to my work as a producer. Producing podcasts, shows, film, documentaries and events, I am able to utilize and leverage my network for what I do as a producer. In this industry it’s not just about what you know, it’s about who you know. It’s surprising to some when they learn the people that I know. As an entrepreneur, it is absolutely true that your network equals your networth. With having worked with so many different types of people, I have acquired the experience, knowledge, and wisdom when it comes to thriving in male dominated spaces as well. As an energy life coach, I also specialize in coaching women to not only survive, but also thrive in male dominated spaces. With a few international best selling books under my belt and public speaking experience, I shift from space to space with the intention of sharing more light with the world.
My partnerships consist of a few incredible companies. The first is Talent Agency Guide – a resource for aspiring and working actors. The next is CEITA TV – a network that has subsidiary companies like Frenzee Broadcasting and is partnered with CIE Fashion Magazine. The last is AM Wellness, an organic fresh pressed juice company that offers juice and seamoss in various forms. Collectively, these companies have all worked with all levels of celebrity from A to D.
I am excited for the remainder of 2025 and what’s coming for 2026! Follow them and stay updated!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The entertainment industry is definitely shifting. What used to be all about the big companies and brands, although they will always have the largest capital backing, there is more room now for the independent creators. From TV, Film, Music, and content, the independent creators have access to platforms that will put them in front of millions and have the opportunity to succeed in not only viewership, but monetarily as well. As far as my personal brand in the self-development, empowerment, coaching industry, I see this industry shifting as well. Over the last five years, there’s been a flood of self proclaimed coaches, speakers, authors. There is nothing wrong with this, but how do you know who is authentic and who is not? I see that the industry really won’t be an industry anymore; the world of ‘sharing your story’ will just become commonplace and anyone will be sharing whether it is via social media or just content creation. The experts will be a combination of those who really have survived atrocities, but will also be those who can operate online as a business to successfully get their message out to the world consistently. Those who have authentic messages and great skills to share will only succeed making a living helping others if they can master the online world and operate as a business.
