Today we’d like to introduce you to Darrylin Kerr.
Hi Darrylin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Peace! April 2023, I moved to Los Angeles. Anxious but Eager. Furthering my career in entertainment, revolving around Film, Music, and Balloons, with a long-term background in Luxury Retail.
My journey began in the Summer of 2021, hosted at my local bar called “Why Not Lounge“ in my hometown, Hayward, CA. My ability to draw in my own crowd of 10-20 guests a night secured me more hosting opportunities with a wide selection and love for Hip-Hop & Rap, Reggae, House, Trap, R&B, and Soul. I’ve had the pleasure to work with many event promoters and entertainment companies throughout the East Bay area.
I figure if the music is right, drinks are good, hookah and food are available, and I can occasionally bring balloons. Why not lounge here …
All while Securing connections and networking. I began casting as a Background actor in a movie, campaign and music video. As I continued juggling My 9-5 in luxury retail, my small balloon business, and hosting jobs in nightlife. I had a strong desire to further my career in entertainment with the support of family & friends. I knew L.A. would fulfill that. Transferring my job and packing up a Uhaul. I drove from Oakland to L.A., and on that solo drive, I set my intentions really clear and asked god for guidance, success, and longevity in anything I was going to do.
June 2023, I became a production assistant specializing in music videos for Hatch86films and Createdbyblu LLC with many artists & bands (Moonshine Bandits, E-40, Zoe Osama, Heembeezy, OT Genasis, BuckCherry, Symba, Harnoor, Jassa Dhillon, Alexcis In, and Westside JC) and upcoming comedy show “West Comedy Jam” with Coin Media Group. I have so much devotion to film production, assisting artists, and being behind the camera.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My parents and siblings consider me blessed and strong. I never ponder on a bad day or what could’ve been. Instead, I will strategize and implement strong ideas on moving forward in any setting under any condition.
I have many ideas when it comes to creative direction, visuals, music videos, event curating, collaborations, and promo concepts for some of my favorite artists and creatives. I don’t keep note of some ideas on purpose. I feel as though it would haunt me due to not seeing it how I envisioned it, the budget, small details, or simply the label never releasing it. However, I am very confident that a lot of my ideas and creativity will show over the years.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in Film Production, Balloon artistry, and Luxury retail.
Marketing a range of memorable entertainment activities, including production for music videos and comedy shows. Creating balloons for various occasions, from Album listening parties to the local boba shop, clothing stores, and more, I am able to capture the essence of my creative talents and combine my passion for music, film, and balloons all in the same industry.
I am most proud of my work ethic and the ability to create strong relationships when networking. It has put me in a really good standing as I am always excited to meet new people. Since moving to L.A. I feel as though most people I’ve met can easily teach or show me something that can be very beneficial and productive if not now… later.
What sets me apart from many is being able to combine Fashion, Film, and Event Decor in the music industry for artists and creatives.
If an artist needed music video assistance, shopping/styling in luxury sales and balloons for an event. My turnaround time would be efficient. As I am able to balance multiple projects.
How do you think about luck?
Good luck has played a small role in my life and business. I am almost certain, as a little girl, my father’s great taste in music for Hip Hop & Rap, Reggae, and Jazz music is what carries me and my love for music today. The loud bass speakers in his white convertible mustang car. He would then pick me and my brother up from school, playing anything from Rick Ross, Jackson 5, Bobby Valentino, Keyshia Cole, etc. Suga Free & Dru down on Saturday mornings and blasting Tony! Toni! Tone! or Bob Marley, any day of the week. Not to mention my grandma’s favorite song being Shake ya A** by Mystikal …
I prioritize being productive, open-minded & hard working as nothing comes easy. I want to make my family proud.
As I continue my career in this industry, I look forward to working with female artists, promo/visuals for artists, digital marketing, stage design, and more.
