Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody & Stephanie Hager.
Hi Cody & Stephanie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
This story never gets old! It all began with my (Stephanie) fascination with all things tiny and vintage. Cody and I have always wanted to start our own business. So, one day, after many failed pitches, I approached Cody with the idea of turning our 1969 camper into a photo booth trailer. To my surprise, he was all for it and in we dove head first into the Southern California wedding industry. After a few months of sharing our photo booth trailer at weddings, Cody mentioned that he thought I’d make a great wedding photographer. “You have an eye for this kind of stuff, honey.” he said. And there I was once again trying something new and completely out of my comfort zone. We taught each other along the way and now we have been so blessed to be able to add our 1969 Volkswagen Bug rental and Super 8mm film to the mix! Yes, we have a thing for our lucky year 1969.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has definitely been a rocky road, but we are loving our current destination and we cannot wait for what’s to come! As self-taught photographers and first-time business owners, it was definitely tough figuring out the first steps of how to start your business and how to grow your client base. We learned that as we stayed dedicated to provide the best service to our couples, they spread the word and helped us keep the good times rolling with their friends and family on their special day!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a husband and wife photography duo, we not only specialize in event Photography but building connections with our couple so that we can root for them on their day. We want to make it as memorable as ever, so having the option to add on retro super 8 mm film, a classic getaway car, or a vintage photo booth trailer to their experience is a no-brainer!
What sets us apart is our thirst to create and provide the best experience. We are a team, and you can tell while we are at work. Having two photographers on your wedding day can take the stress off of our couple so that they know we are getting all the angles and really it’s like your photographer can be at two places at once.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Patience. Rome wasn’t built overnight. Or is that how the saying goes?
We admit it is hard to be patient when you are so passionate about something that you’ve poured so much time and energy dreaming about. But, It all takes time and patience. A win is a win! And every booking is a win no matter how small. We still get to do what we love and share our art with others!
