Daily Inspiration: Meet Blanca Guerra

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blanca Guerra.

Hi Blanca, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My love for brows actually started super young. When I was about 13, I shaved off my eyebrows because of the chola style, and I would draw them on every single day. That’s when I started getting compliments—people loved how I shaped and styled them. I didn’t realize it then, but that was the beginning of my journey.

As I got older, I saw microshading start to blow up, and it instantly caught my attention. I knew I wanted in. I didn’t come from a background where everything was handed to me, so I invested in myself, bought my own supplies, and started teaching myself from scratch. I took an online class, and even though it wasn’t easy learning that way, I stayed consistent. I spent hours researching, watching YouTube videos, and learning through social media. I refused to give up.

Now, four years later, I’ve built my own studio and created a brand that keeps me fully booked. As a Latina in the beauty industry, that means everything to me. I’m not just doing brows—I’m helping women feel confident, powerful, and seen. There’s something so special about enhancing someone’s natural beauty and watching their confidence glow.

My journey hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been real. And if there’s one thing I stand by, it’s that you don’t need permission to start—you just need vision, discipline, and belief in yourself. I’m living proof that you can build something beautiful from the ground up.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Being self-taught came with a lot of pressure—everything I know today is because I took the time to go out and find it on my own. There was no shortcut, no one guiding me step by step. It was a lot of trial, error, and late nights trying to perfect my craft.

At the same time, I was balancing a full-time job and being a mom, so there were moments where it felt like there just wasn’t enough time in the day for my dreams. I had to teach myself not only the art of brows, but also how to market my business, build a brand, and grow a clientele from nothing. That part was just as challenging as learning the skill itself.

I remember there was a moment where it all felt overwhelming—I wasn’t getting many clients, and I started questioning everything. I even cried because I felt like giving up. It was one of those breaking points where you either stop or keep going. In that moment, I prayed and asked God to guide me, to give me strength and clarity.

Looking back, I’m grateful for those struggles because they built my resilience. They taught me discipline, patience, and faith. Now when I see how far I’ve come, I know every tear, every doubt, and every sacrifice was worth it. It wasn’t easy—but it made my success that much more meaningful.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Brow Artist specializing in microshading, specifically ombré powder brows, along with brow tinting and lamination. I also offer cosmetic tattoo services like eyeliner and lip blushing. My work is all about enhancing natural beauty—creating soft, defined, effortless looks that make my clients feel confident every day without needing a full routine.

What I’m most proud of isn’t just my business, but everything it represents. I’m a first-generation Latina, a Mexican-American woman who built something of her own while working a 9–5 and raising a family. I’ve balanced being a mom, a daughter, and a sister while still chasing my vision—and that means everything to me. My journey wasn’t handed to me, I built it from the ground up.

What sets me apart is my story and my mindset. I came into this industry not knowing anything about how to start a business or market myself. I had to learn everything on my own, and I kept going even when it felt overwhelming. As a former teenage mom, I’ve always felt like I was going against the odds—but instead of letting that define me, I used it as fuel.

I connect deeply with my clients because I understand what it’s like to want to feel confident and seen. My work is not just about brows—it’s about empowerment. When my clients leave my chair, I want them to feel like the best version of themselves. That’s what truly sets me apart.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t really see it as luck—I see it as faith, timing, and hard work coming together. Of course, there are moments people might call “good luck,” like the right client finding me or opportunities coming at the perfect time. But behind those moments were hours of practice, consistency, and not giving up when things felt uncertain.

If anything, I’ve experienced more challenges than “luck.” There were slow seasons, self-doubt, and times where I questioned if this was really going to work. But those moments pushed me to grow, to get better, and to stay focused on my vision. I believe what’s meant for you will come—but you have to be ready for it when it does.

My faith has played a big role in that. When things felt out of my control, I leaned on prayer and trusted that everything was happening for a reason. So instead of calling it luck, I’d say it’s been about trusting the process, putting in the work, and staying aligned with my purpose.

At the end of the day, I created my own opportunities—and that means so much more than just being lucky.
