Daily Inspiration: Meet Ashley Harper

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Harper.

Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today. 
I am 21 years old, and I have been in the business for about 7 years now. I’ve always loved acting and writing, but I didn’t start it until I was 14. Last year, I wrote a film called “RED” and it has gained so much attention and impact. The film has also won awards at different film festivals. I’m hoping that I continue to grow in my acting and filmmaking career and make the biggest impact that I can make. 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I took a break from acting to get my associate’s degree in math, and now I’m getting my bachelor’s degree in math, so I’m hoping that I can go back to acting more seriously after I have my degree and my full-time job in data science after I graduate. I also want to able to travel for different opportunities. 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an actor and a filmmaker. I specialize in currently as a filmmaker. I am known for “RED,” which is the latest film that I wrote, produced, and directed. This was a mental health film that I wanted to present to the world about how serious mental health truly is. I feel like as long as I keep making more impactful movies that I will make a difference in this world. 

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I haven’t found a mentor yet because I have been told that I don’t need one and that I’m fine on my own. If you truly want a mentor, you should find someone you know in your industry or your life and ask them.
