Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Harper.
Angel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
She is a graduate of Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio and Television Production. As the first African American DJ at Cornell University (WVBR-FM), she learned her destination was to be Voice performer in the entertainment industry…even though she grew up a poor Cuban Black Jamaican in one of Harlem’s worst tenements.
Following her college initiation into the voice over she began to work in commercial and narration work in Washington DC. Her commercial voice performance identified as Credible, Natural, and Easy-Going know as the female Morgan Freeman. She is known for her Caribbean voice performances recognized as Earthy, Warm soulful, Textured, Exotic Tropical Voice.
She won the Achievement in Radio Award two years in a row, for her Outstanding Voice Over performance in Washington, DC. When relocating to Los Angeles she began booking animation work on such show as Rugrats, Batman (which Batman?), Captain Planet, Ghostbusters, New Kids, and Monsters (Monsters Inc.?). For 15 years she was a lead cast member on the Tom Joyner Morning Show’s radio drama “It’s Your World” playing several characters including, Dr. Cotton.
Angel’s as a Voice Over Performer led to On Camera opportunities. She is now a Vested member of AFTRA-SAG Union. Visit IMDBPro to see a list of her extensive professional credits in film/television and theater.
In 2020 she won a scholarship to learn audiobook narration for book publishers. Her audiobook work started with Penguin Random House’s 25th anniversary book, “Dreaming In Cuban.” Her narration work is described as engaging, warm, versatile, distinctive in style, and mature.
For the last few years she has been working in the Podcast Drama genre as lead characters on “The Cofounder” as Grandma Di (REALM) and “The Lower Bottoms,” Will Packer, executive producer, as Gangster Mom Angela (iHeart Radio) and Table Read Podcast Dramas.
Angel has a stellar theatrical team of Entertainment Lab Management as well as Voice Over agents of Innovative Artist (NYC) and Eris Talent (LA)
Her commercial agent is Love Talent.
This team of agents have allowed her to do more Dubbing work for Netflix and Prime TV as well as Audiobooks. This year she made a television appearence on
All American as a gangster grandma and appeared in an Apple commercial with Pedro Pascal.
Angel’s is also a standup comedian! This experience empowers her voice performances as she is incredible at Improv. She is a winner of America’s Funniest People and has appeared on BET’s Comic View and Show Me the Funny. This year she is reviving her stand up routine and creating the persona of the Snow Lepoard comedienne.

As a producer, she is the founder the executive producer of Heaven-Sent Productions, producing and directing the award-winning documentary film “Keeping the Faith With Morrie.”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being in the creative industry is usually an uphill battle to survive. After college I was recruited by an ABC affiliate in Washington DC . There I was able to work in broadcasting while pursuing my acting and voice over career. The challenge there and always is to balance a Rent paying job with your Artist dreams. When I came to Los Angeles I had a Voice Over agent and savings so I was able to enjoy my career for a while until 2008 when things changed for everyone in the US
The short story I needed a RENT job and did several jobs and finally went back to school aided by a scholarship from Antitoch college and the SAG Foundation.. Speed forward. I got my teaching credential and worked at LAUSD until 20219
I retired just before COVID During that time I planed my return to entertainment. I got agents and a manager and successfully returnend to acting booking jobs and learning the new ways the industry works.
Since I am on social security my rent is paid and it helps me not worry about taking care of myself.
I decided to continue work freelancing as a Studio Teacher.

On camera I can perform in all genres and in voice over my experience is commercial animation narration podcast dramas audiobook narration.

For fun I enjoy salsa and hip hop dancing at the gym and excercising
I enjoy movie screenings and spending times with friends
I am a Christian my church is Oasis Christian Church
I also belong to a Christian woman group from Elevation Church
I enjoy volunteer work.
