Daily Inspiration: Meet Acadia Diaz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Acadia Diaz

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Art saved my life. I always had art to turn to when the world didn’t make sense. I took many years of art class in school and college, this encouraged me to dive into art on my free time. I painted tiny sculptures i would make out of polymer clay and then turn into jewelry. Eventually this art was focused on my nails. The nail art community was budding at that time i competed in many online nail art contests, winning nail art supplies to further my refinement. Being able to do such detailed work requires a trained eye which is gained with only practice. Between the tiny artwork I would paint and the sculpting I would do it created a perfect base to start nails, I was able to practice acrylic for a few years on and off before becoming a professional. When I went to school the nail art community had began to incorporate increasingly complex and intricate nails designs. I felt I had been practicing my whole life. I graduated top of my class with scholarships and assembly awards. Now I’m a home based nail tech. Hopefully I will soon be able to have my own suite or work for an amazing nail company in the valley.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The hardest struggle was finding a school with good reviews that was affordable and accredited. There was a lot of scam schools when i started in 2010 im so glad i listened to my gut and steered away. I finally did find the perfect school and I went to west valley occupational center and my teacher was Mr. Cao.

I did go to nail school while i was pregnant with my third child. Finding day care and scheduling school drop off and pick up was hard as well i was very close to my due date by the time i graduated. School was an hour away and an 8 hour day.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
i specialize in the more detailed nail art. The trendy pictures on instagram, i can do that. I’m able to do multi mediums from fine art, cartoon art, logos, chrome, 3d nail art, sculpture in acrylic and gel, i do acrylic nails. I can do simple designs and the more intricate as well. High attention to detail, perfectionist attitude towards nails.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband Woods, he has had my back since we met. He helped me go to school and always believed in me. i could not have accomplish my dream of being a nailtech without him. Through taking care of our family and supporting my dreams he’s is my number 1. My mom for believing in me. My sister cori who joined me on our arduous journey everyday to nailschool. My children who make me want to be a better mom and person. I love you all.
