Today we’d like to introduce you to 3 Ball Media. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Aamir and Tate met in their first-ever acting class in Los Angeles, CA. One day after class, they got lunch at Urth Cafe in Santa Monica, CA. There was a certain spark that just hit them and they instantly became best friends. Since then, they carpooled from Orange County to Los Angeles for class every week until they eventually moved to the valley. They helped each other with self-tapes as things were picking up for both of them. Having signed to their managers and agents, they started auditioning more and getting good feedback but weren’t booking much.
They knew that in order to have the careers that they believed they were capable of having, they would have to create their own opportunities to get started. Hence, 3 Ball Media was born. They opened their production office in Playa Vista, CA. They wrote three short film scripts that they had been developing and took into the company with them. Once finished being developed, they filmed all of them back to back within two months.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road for the duo but no matter the obstacle, they will prevail.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The first film, BABY POWDER. Directed by Aamir Yusuf. The films stars Azizi Donnelly (Contrariety), McKenna Ralston (Dreamin’ Wild), Sole Bovelli, Maye Harris, and Eric Marq (Flamin’ Hot). “Laying low from robbing banks, the Prima Donnas look to their next spot, a local diner, with hopes of skating off with a bag full of cash.” Casting by Grant Crocker.
The second film, CLOAKERS. Directed by Tate Doppler. The film stars Tate Doppler, Aamir Yusuf, Kennedy Porter (War of the Worlds: Annihilation), Sydney Bell, Colin Seifert, Cameron Wong, Ryan Rathbun, Taylor Parise, and Grady Eldridge. “A high school New Years Eve party turns into a murder mystery when a group of cloaks starts hunting down Gabe and his friends.”
Their latest, HAPPY PLACE. Directed by Bernadette Speakes. The film stars Daterion Rogers, Tate Doppler, Aamir Yusuf, and Ajia Munns. “An unhappy introvert becomes addicted to a new dopamine pill called DX-127 in his pursuit of happiness.”
The short films will be released publicly once they have their respective festival run. After filming the shorts, Tate and Aamir were able to get distribution for their first feature, which is currently in development, titled “Medicated.”
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
The duo believes that they are incredibly lucky. Luck plays a huge factor in this industry and is needed. But like the saying goes, luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Luck is earned. And the duo believes that they’ve earned their luck.
