Today we’d like to introduce you to Yuki Murauchi.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a professional dancer originally from Tokyo, Japan working in Los Angeles. I started my dance career when I was in Japan. I danced for the Japanese top artist ” Namie Amuro” for seven years and I decided to chase my dream so I moved to Los Angeles in 2018.
As soon as I moved to Los Angeles, I booked a music video for Nicki Minaj’s “Barbie Tingz”, “Chun-Li”. After that, I performed “Made in America”, “VMA”, “The Ellen Show”, “MTV EMA”, “People’s Choice Awards” and “FOMO tour in Australia, New Zealand” for her. At the same time, I booked Gwen Stefani’s Las Vegas Residency Show “Just a Girl”. We performed 2018-2021 in Las Vegas. I still dance for her show so it means six years of work with her family!!! Also, I got the experience to dance for Taylor Swift’s “AMAS”, Rihanna produced “Savage×Fenty vo.2 “show choreographed by Parris Goebel, and lots of top artists’ work as far now!!!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Booked the job and continuing to work constantly is so hard because only a few top dancers can do it. We need not only top-quality dance but also who can work so hard and who can make good communication. It means we have to take care of our mind and body every day and stay, and keep a positive mindset no matter how bad the situation is. And English!!!!! I lived in Japan for 30 years without using English so especially the first year I moved in LA, communication was so hard. But little by little I learned, and understood English so after six years now, I feel better!!! But still, I’m learning!!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
When I was 5,6 years old I started training classic ballet for 6 years. And when I was 13 years old I started training rhythmic gymnastics in middle school – high school for 6 years. I went to the University and finally I started training street dance!!
My specialization is being able to pursue how accurately I can dance the choreographer’s choreography in an atmosphere that suits the artist. Clean, Sharp, Powerful, and enjoy is my style!!!
I’m proud of my hard work in these six years in America and also my character. Looks mixed (Asian American) because I got the perm and color. People can easily find me because I have curly hair.
And I also work as a training instructor in the Fitbit Japan program too. This year, I got a yoga teacher license “RYT 200”.
I want to teach everybody to keep their body and mind healthy.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I appreciate every teacher who taught me dance and who helped me to get a VISA that could be worked in America. Also My dance agency “Bloc Talent Agency” helped and supported me to work and book the jobs.
I am able to maintain good motivation because I have wonderful dancers around me!! Especially the same Japanese dancers!!!! They give me energy and inspiration.
