Hi Vickii, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Born and raised in Singapore, I started my career as a Management Consultant at a Fortune 500 company after college. Two years later, I left the corporate world to start my own businesses – Olive Home and Bakes by VM.

I decided to make the move to New York City in 2020 and finally ended up in Los Angeles, where I am currently a Marketing Manager and Content Creator for CPG brands.

Brands I have worked with include Singapore Airlines, Valrhona Chocolate, Netflix, American Express, Sony, Kevin Hart & Disneyland.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Moving to the US was tough. I started out on a work visa; it took time to build stability as a freelancer. It felt like I was starting from scratch, getting to understand the market which is vastly different from Singapore, and it took me some time to finding my footing in terms of my network and opportunities.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have years of experience building authentic brands on social media for purpose-driven entrepreneurs, hospitality brands, celebrities, and food companies.

Currently doing freelance social media management and content creation (photography + UGC reels/ TikTok) for food and beverage and CPG brands. I also do portrait photography sessions for families and couples.

I’m most proud of my work for distinguished companies and people like Singapore Airlines, Kevin Hart, and Valrhona.

What sets me apart is that I have both the knowledge in business and art to create strong campaigns that stick and resonate with the audience.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love Los Angeles for the beautiful weather and the diversity of its people. It is a melting pot of cultures and food. There are so many hiking trails around that you don’t ever have to repeat a trail!

I’m enamored that we can drive 2 hours and see a mix of scenery- the desert, ocean, and city. There are so many outdoor activities to do and easy access to nature. The food scene is also amazing especially enjoy the Korean, Thai, and Mexican food here!

The least I like about Los Angeles is the traffic.
