Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Parmar.
Hi Veronica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Pilates with Veronica came into existence due to the pandemic. Prior to that I had been working at a large studio in Playa Vista as Assistant Studio Manager and lead Pilates Instructor. We had been furloyed for many months and finally it was decided that all studios needed to close. In the interim I had been introduced to a friend of a friend that was looking to set up a small Pilates studio. I helped facilitate her getting a Reformer and in turn she offered me the space to rent. Once I knew I was not going back to my former studio I jumped into action and created Pilates with Veronica utilizing the space I was offered and my client list.
The space has grown with more equipement for private sessions bringing it to be a great little studio.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Owning your own business has its ups and downs especially with what I do. I offer a very specific service which some might refer to as a luxury. If a client is having finacial problems often times the Pilates sessions are the first to go. It is understandable and you always hope for their return if they can make it work.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Pilates Instructor and have been teaching for 12 years. I teach Reformer Pilates as well as mat classes. I am trained on all pieces of equipment and use most during private sessions.
I am classically trained and refer to my teaching style as a hybrid of a classical base mixed with contemporary movement. I keep my clients challenged while progressing them to advanced exercises. I like to be very creative as well with my sessions which keeps me engaged as much as the client.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Pilates has become very popular in the last few years as well as more accessible to the masses. I hope that it does’nt just get lumped into a fitness trend and it keeps its sustainablilty. It is truly a practice for everyone no matter your age and fitness ability.
