Today we’d like to introduce you to Shauntelle Sposto.
Hi Shauntelle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my career with a deep curiosity about people and the moments that shape their lives. Photography became the medium through which I could document those stories in a meaningful way. Early on, I was drawn to weddings because they combine so many layers of human experience. Family history, emotion, artistry, and celebration all exist in the same space.
What started as a creative pursuit gradually evolved into a professional calling. I spent years refining my technical approach, developing a signature editing style, and learning how to anticipate moments rather than simply react to them. At the same time, I built my business intentionally, focusing on relationships with planners and creative partners and serving couples who value photography as an important part of their legacy.
Today, through Sposto Photography, I focus on creating refined, editorial imagery that still feels deeply personal and authentic. My work has taken me to extraordinary places and introduced me to remarkable people, but at its core the mission remains the same as when I began: to document meaningful stories with care, artistry, and a sense of timelessness.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has certainly not been a completely smooth road. Like most creative careers, it has involved a great deal of trial, persistence, and growth over time. In the early years, one of the biggest challenges was learning how to balance the artistic side of photography with the realities of running a business. Pricing, contracts, marketing, and building strong industry relationships are skills that take time to develop and refine.
Another challenge has been learning how to navigate an industry that is both highly competitive and constantly evolving. Trends change, technology advances, and client expectations continue to grow. Staying relevant requires ongoing education, experimentation, and a willingness to adapt while still remaining true to your own style and values.
There have also been the more personal challenges that come with entrepreneurship. Long hours, travel, the pressure of documenting once-in-a-lifetime moments, and the responsibility of delivering work at the highest level can be demanding. However, those experiences ultimately helped shape the photographer and business owner I am today. Each challenge pushed me to refine my craft, strengthen my systems, and build a brand that reflects both artistic intention and a commitment to service.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work centers on documenting weddings and celebrations in a way that feels both editorial and deeply human. Through Sposto Photography, I specialize in refined, story-driven imagery that balances beautiful composition with genuine emotion. Many of the events I photograph are multi-day celebrations, often in collaboration with exceptional planners and creative teams, where the goal is to create imagery that feels timeless while still capturing the energy of the moment.
I’m known for a style that is polished yet natural. I pay close attention to color, light, and detail so that the images feel luminous and true to life. At the same time, I focus heavily on storytelling. Beyond the portraits and décor, I am always watching for the quiet interactions between family members, the unscripted moments between couples, and the atmosphere of the day as it unfolds.
What I am most proud of is the trust couples place in me to document such meaningful moments in their lives all around the world. Weddings are once-in-a-lifetime events, and being invited into those spaces is something I take very seriously. Over time, that trust has allowed me to build lasting relationships not only with couples but also with planners and creative partners across the industry.
What sets my work apart is the balance between artistry and service. I approach each event with a strong editorial eye, but also with a deep commitment to collaboration and care for the people involved. My goal is always to create photographs that feel elegant and enduring while also preserving the authentic story of the day.
How do you define success?
define success as building a life and career that are both meaningful and sustainable. Professionally, it means creating work that I am proud of and that continues to resonate with the people I photograph years after the moment has passed. Photography has the unique ability to become part of a family’s history, so success to me is knowing that the images I create will be valued and preserved for generations.
It also means running a business that operates with integrity and intention. Success is not only about the work itself but about the relationships built along the way. Collaborating with talented planners, serving couples well, and contributing positively to the creative community are all important measures of that success.
On a personal level, success is about balance. Being able to grow creatively, support my family, and maintain a sense of curiosity and joy in the work is incredibly important to me. When those pieces align, meaningful work, strong relationships, and a life that feels aligned with my values, that is what I consider true success.
