Today we’d like to introduce you to serynna oliveres

Hi serynna , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Glendale Arizona; my parents’ names are Jeannette Padilla Oliveres and Enrique Oliveres although they are my parents i was also raised by my grandparents, Alama Leticia Medina Padilla and Eduardo Padilla. i grew up in Phoenix Arizona, my Neighborhood community is called Maryville.
I am the youngest of 3 brothers from my dad but between my mom and dad i am the youngest and only girl of 1 brother. growing up being the only girl in my close family was what i would say “top tier” because i was never bored and i got away with everything. I was the princess of my family and the “Estrella” what my grandmother would say.
my grandmother who i call “Nana” was from a place in Sonora Mexico called Agua Prieta but lived in Douglas Arizona, my grandfather who i call “Tata” is from Agua Prieta and lived there until he and my Nana met one night when she crossed the border to go clubbing with her sister and friends.
i like to talk about them because that’s how it all begins. since i learned how to talk id ask my Nana how her and my tata met and i would constantly ask her what feelings she had, as she would tell me id put the images in my head and when i was alone id recreate them as if it was a movie or a show and then id have her and my tata watch my short play and they would laugh and look at each other with love and at that moment i knew i loved making people laugh and show love from what i made come to life.
Although my grandparent’s marriage and story of how they met was what i would call romantic and true love, my parents were more so the opposite. growing up watching my parents’ marriage and seeing a complete difference from my grandparents opened my eyes to see hurt, pain and abuse with a pinch of happy in it.
Watching my parents’ heartbreak influenced my emotions quite a bit so i would use that in writting, dancing, singing and acting.
in school i would participate in all talent shows and theater clubs to get some of those built-up emotions.
from being in talent shows and theater clubs i found what i was so passionate about and loved doing, going into high school i was very depressed but theater made me feel like i could be anything and anyone i wanted to be and that feeling attached itself to me until September of 2020 when my uncle passed and within 3 months my mom and nana passed away.
going through the passing of my uncle, mom and nana was the worst time of my life… it took an extreme toll on my family and i. The year of 2021 was the worst year for me mentally and emotionally not only because of my mom and nana passing in January 2 weeks apart but also because a lot of my outside family buried in my head that i couldn’t just cry and grieve because i had to take care of my brother, tata and dad. i took it to heart because i thought they were right since i was 17 and the only girl in the house. But deep down i was drowning and i kept so much in, so i stared to party and drink alcohol almost every day.
Thats until my aunt Jeannette took me in for a few months and let me cry to her and open up to her, she would talk to me and listen to what i had to say. After those few months i ended up back with my tata and brother but it still didn’t work out so i ended up calling my dad and after a week, he took me to his brother’s house. my uncle Efren Oliveres and Aunt Lisa Flores Oliveres took me in and helped me get a job and learn how to save money, they taught me how to get a credit card. With the help of my uncle Efren and my 2 Aunts Lisa and Jeannette i would not have been able to move to Los Angeles. They helped me find my glow and pushed me to keep on going for my mom and nana, i moved to Burbank and started background acting for cental casting. I auditioned for student films and worked on sets for Netflix, warner brothers, Paramount studios and Burbank studios. I’m currently in the Prosses of making my own short film called Rose starring my amazing friend Taryn Vickers and hopefully submitted it to a film festival here in LA.
within the the next two years i hope to be a lead role in a movie or tv show, i also hope to be with the union as well but until then i am going to keep working hard every day and make some great short films.

i can honestly say i will always be grateful for my uncle and 2 aunts for pushing me and supporting me, i also want to say a huge thank you to my friends and cousins Miki, Andie, Efren, Paul, Brianna, Darian, Maris, Galito, Xavier, Lyndon, Manny, Polo, Mike, Leticia, se se, subrina, Ariel, Trinity, Ricky, Javier, Marc, Daneille, Robert.
Without the love and support i would not be where i am today and for them im proud to keep reaching for my goals and continue filmmaking.

I hope by telling my story i can inspire more people to go after their dreams because even if the whole world is against you, YOU can do anything you put your mind to! Im from Phoenix Arizona but LA has also become my home and im so thankful i can do what i love most in the world in such a beautiful city and state. being a part of LA culture is such a beautiful thing and making films from getting inspiration in LA is so pure.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Moving to a state or city to pursue your dream can never be easy, but how i overcame my challenges since starting is by having patience and being consistent. Not giving up just because you hit a bump in the road or the feeling of “im not doing enough or trying hard enough”. Following your dreams takes time, but just have that determination and talking to someone your close to helps a lot as well. finding people who are going through the same Process helps with needing to vent.
what was a struggle for me was getting information about acting and how to book auditions. also a big one was finding a talent agent who would represent me without being in a union. another challenge i face is people in the industry thinking i wont be able to make it happen myself because im so young, a woman and Mexican, American.
