I am a dynamic and ambitious film and television producer from Kuwait. Born and raised in Kuwait, I defied societal expectations that often confined Middle Eastern girls to medicine, business, or finance careers, choosing instead to pursue my true passion: filmmaking. In 2017, I boldly followed my passion for filmmaking and moved to Los Angeles, the heart of the entertainment industry. Enrolling in the prestigious New York Film Academy, I studied Fine Arts in Filmmaking for my undergraduate degree. This unconventional path was the right choice for me.

Immersed in film and tv, I dedicated myself to honing my skills and expanding my knowledge of the craft. The New York Film Academy provided invaluable opportunities to learn from industry professionals, collaborate with talented classmates, and gain hands-on experience. I embraced every chance to grow as a filmmaker, from working behind the camera to the editing room and on set.

As I near the completion of my studies, I am proud to share that I am set to graduate with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Producing TV and Film. This accomplishment signifies my passion for storytelling and my commitment to excellence in the film and television industry.

I directed, wrote, and produced numerous short films, documentaries, and commercials throughout my academic journey, showcasing my creativity and talent. Each project was a testament to my determination to succeed in an industry where Middle Eastern women are underrepresented.

In 2021, my remarkable film, “Courage,” captivated audiences at esteemed film festivals, affirming my commitment to impactful storytelling and proving that success is attainable in this industry.

My unique perspective as a Middle Eastern woman adds depth and diversity to my work. Through my films, I strive to challenge stereotypes, break down barriers, and amplify underrepresented stories. I push the boundaries of storytelling with every endeavor, leaving an indelible mark on the film and television industry.

While my journey has not been without challenges, the unwavering support of my parents has been instrumental. Their belief in my abilities has empowered me to overcome obstacles and pursue my dreams steadfastly.

As I continue to evolve as a filmmaker, my exceptional negotiation and logistical skills as a line producer ensure smooth operations. I inspire emerging producers through my relentless pursuit of excellence, showcasing my unwavering dedication to the craft.

My ultimate goal is to make a lasting impact on the film and television industry. With my unique background, storytelling abilities, and parental support, I aspire to become a prominent film and television producer, breaking boundaries and leaving my mark on the entertainment world.

Looking ahead, I am determined to establish myself as a successful producer, creating more opportunities in the entertainment industry for Kuwaiti talent. Coming from a country with a less prevalent entertainment industry, I understand the importance of representation and the need for diverse voices to be heard.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey in the film and television industry has been filled with challenges. I had to break societal expectations and face criticism for pursuing a career in filmmaking. Moving to Los Angeles meant adapting to a new environment and learning the industry dynamics from scratch. As a Middle Eastern woman, I encountered stereotypes and biases that made it difficult to be taken seriously. Balancing passion and practicality was a constant challenge, as was navigating the competitive nature of the industry and facing rejection. However, with the unwavering support of my family, my belief in my abilities, and a resilient mindset, I persevered, viewing each hurdle as an opportunity for growth. These struggles have shaped me into a stronger and more determined filmmaker.
