Conversations with Nas Bogado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nas Bogado.

Hi Nas, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m an Angeleno driven by visuals. I have a pretty unusual start, I feel I’ve had multiple ‘starts’, lol. The core has never changed which is my personal love for art and music. I worked two separate careers simultaneously most of my life until I started combining them as I grew up – Ex. in my early 20s most days of the week I was working at a lowbrow art gallery, sprinkle in a few days interning in the music industry, specifically marketing dept. The two of these areas evolved and merged over time.

My first love was design, design led me to photography which led me to film/video.

After a crazy life transition pre-pandemic, I had the goal to pursue my personal happiness. In pursuit, I dropped everything, flipped my own script and dove straight into what I enjoyed doing and what I needed to release. Film/Video has been a very healing journey with self-expression.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh no! The most continuous struggle I have is personal and work balance. This year I have witnessed new ones. Directing and working mostly with artists is VERY EMOTIONAL, lol.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m known for a few things.

I started a production company DNI Productions (Queer-owned). We want to help provide more opportunities to queer-identifying, people of color and women – but we are NOT exclusive, I believe in talent and skill. Male, Female, Gender-fluid.

I first and foremost am a director – director, dp, and creative director 🙂

Some popular/viral artists I’ve worked with this year are…

Royal and the Serpent – We released 5 videos in a row that we shot ALL IN ONE DAY for her album ‘Happiness For Dummies’. This has been one of my favorite projects to work on.

I have had a viral video hit with GFLIP ft. Christelle “GET ME OUTTA HERE” this was “Selling Sunset” Christelle’s coming out video! Such a blast to work on.

I am known by the music scene to be part of a female and queer ALT rise – as director, creative director and strategist. I’ve been involved with Royal & The Serpent, Phem, Tillie, GFLIP, Lauren Sanderson, Buzz, Kailee Morgue, Cailin Russo and Maggie Lindemann.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I only started directing music videos within the past two years. I’m a newbie, lol.
