Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Devereaux.
Hi Michael, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Inglewood, CA and I always wanted to become a makeup artist. So, right after high school, I went to Marinello Beauty School and learned everything beauty, but what I fell in love with was makeup. I graduated from there and got hired at a Mac counter and worked there for a couple of years, and that’s when I really began to feel the passion; I left and became a freelance makeup artist, and that’s when I became the alter ego Miik3y Starr and began to work on reality starts famous Instagram models and I have been doing that for ten years and now I finally launched my own brand Minked by Miik3y, and that’s been doing well.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not always been a. Smooth road a lot of people always told me I can’t do this, I won’t make it, and it did mislead me, but I never let that top my shine.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a makeup artist, and I specialize in beauty of all nationalities. I am most proud of starting my own eyelash brand and expanding into lip gloss and lipsticks, and what sets me apart is that I am very creative with my look. I don’t fit myself in one category; I try to achieve anything I get my hands on.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
My industry changes every day, so I’m sure it’s going to change into new trends because in my industry, I would like to say it repeats itself, so old trends become new trends, and the new trends then become old.
