Today we’d like to introduce you to Malia Rose Miller
Hi Malia Rose, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Plasma Babe was born in 2020 in Los Angeles – I spent a year apprenticing to perfect my Plasma lift technique, and decided to invest into my personal practice and develop my brand while pregnant with my daughter. The technique I perform is becoming more common, but specializing in it is extremely rare – proper execution and achieving high caliber results is entirely dependent on developing a meticulous and artistic technique, as well as proper aftercare.
Due to my niche specialization, I quickly expanded into traveling to serve clients abroad – clients across the world would find my page, look for a technician near them offering the same caliber of work, wouldn’t find one and would request I visit their city. As demand increased, I began to travel, and continue to do so monthly serving clients in more than 40 cities across the country through out the year. Since then, Plasma babe has continued to grow both in Los Angeles and abroad from a root belief that beauty services have the potential to impact individuals far beyond the confine of their appointment and end results – there is an innate ripple that can impact a clients entire life and experience of themselves. I believe in creating a real connection with my clients, and leading a heart forward business above all – Plasma Babe is just a space for me to do that with the added benefit of refreshing my client’s outward appearance.
Beyond my philosophy on client connection – I believe the beauty industry is lacking a comprehensive and frankly, conservative approach. I am the first to let my clients know when treating an area won’t benefit them, and that truly sustainable beauty comes with a comprehensive and diligent approach of a handful of modalities, proper skincare, and a shift in mind frame – reframing what beauty means and find the elegance and character in having a face that moves and expresses. My goal is always to soften, polish, harmonize and refine. I am not in the business of erasing, freezing or substantially altering the face. I want my clients to experience a renewal and refreshment of their unique radiance and beauty.
Malia believes that there is a unique opportunity in her work that, when stewarded with care, can foster inner radiance and healing beyond the skin. By infusing her practice and space with profound attunement and tenderness to each individual, while applying a meticulous, artisan hand to her technique, an appointment becomes a wellspring of nourishment and transformation.
Almost 5 years later, Malia has expanded her practice to a brick and mortar in Westwood, as well as opening a bespoke Russian nail + lash studio under Babe Wellness Collective.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think any business owner in a major city, and furthermore a beauty practice in the beauty hub of the country (Los Angeles), will tell you that the sheer volume of competitors, the cost of running a business, and getting your name out there can make for an intense path that requires a lot of confidence and drive. My business quite literally grew alongside my daughter – I was 4 months pregnant when I made my brand logo and name, and she was 4 months old when I started traveling for clients. Growing a business while prioritizing my presence and availability to my daughter has been by far the biggest challenge I’ve met on my journey as Plasma Babe, and it has also been the most empowering and driving factor to continue to push me forward. More than anything, I hope the learn the ins and outs of balancing a powerful career with profound presence in motherhood – that’s the hope and wisdom I hope to distill and share with women as my career expands.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve had a varying background across many disciplines – I grew up in a family of artists, particularly performing arts, and was a vocalist and songwriting through my youth and teen years. I went on to study jewelry design and silversmithing at Central Saint Martins for University. I also have an extensive background in therapy, embodiment, yogic intimacy and mindfulness practice. I feel all of these things have alchemized into the gifts I’m able to offer through plasma babe – and I think it absolutely takes the combination of an artistic eye with a meticulous hand to execute most beauty services and I’m grateful for my background having honed both of those things in me.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I would say that most of my clients are surprised to hear I was a performing vocalist over the span of a decade, and that I also have a practice and offering as a women’s mentor, specializing in embodiment work, yogic intimacy, conscious parenting and women’s career mentorship
