Conversations with Loria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Loria.

Hi Loria , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m Loria Nnam a Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based actor, producer, and voice actor with an MFA in Acting for Film from the New York Film Academy. I recently wrote, executive produced, and starred in my debut short film A Dash of Love : a character-driven story about Love, family and “sibling hood”, that is current geared towards the international film festival circuit.

My screen credits include a supporting role in the action-comedy web series Impossible and Unstoppable and a supporting lead in Brethren on M-Net: which aired across 68 countries worldwide and earned me the Best New School Actor Award at the Scream Awards in 2020.

As a Voice Actor I enjoy my natural aptitude for versatility. I move seamlessly between character work, commercial voiceover, and long-form narration, bringing a voice that is sonorous, warm, soft yet powerful and compelling. This range makes me a natural fit for animation, brand storytelling, and evocative commercial campaigns.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest struggles I have faced as an actor and filmmaker has been learning how to keep creating even during seasons of uncertainty and limitation. Moving from Nigeria to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams came with both excitement and sacrifice. As an international creative, I had to navigate a new industry, build connections from the ground up, and constantly prove myself in highly competitive spaces.

Creating my debut short film, A Dash of Love, while balancing personal responsibilities and limited resources taught me resilience, leadership, and faith in my vision.

Another challenge has been overcoming the pressure to fit into predefined boxes as an African woman in entertainment. I have always wanted to tell stories that are authentic, emotionally grounded, and globally relatable, while still embracing my identity and background.

Despite the challenges, every obstacle has strengthened my passion for storytelling and continues to remind me why I started this journey in the first place.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an actor, voice actor, and filmmaker passionate about telling emotionally honest and impactful stories. My work spans acting for film, voice performance, and creative storytelling, with a strong focus on projects that explore identity, human connection, self-awareness, and resilience.

I am especially proud of writing, executive producing, and starring in my debut short film, A Dash of Love. That project was a defining moment for me because it allowed me to fully step into my voice as both a performer and storyteller while bringing a deeply personal vision to life.

What sets me apart is my ability to approach storytelling from multiple creative perspectives. I am not only passionate about performing characters, but also about shaping meaningful narratives behind the scenes. I bring a unique cultural perspective, determination, and authenticity to everything I create.

What’s next?
To keep creating meaningfully, intentionally and transformatively. To continuously hone my Acting skills, and tell stories that tether family members and friends to each other and evoke beautiful and profound shared history, like the one I currently have with my family. I gravitated towards the creative arts in company of my family when we watched classics like: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The King and I, Sound of Music, and The Wizard of Oz and those wholesome encounters remain my driving inspiration, a force to create familial materials…
