Conversations with Laura Stone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Stone

Hi laura, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After graduating from college, I moved to Los Angeles and attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising ( FIDM), studying beauty marketing and product development. During and after graduating from FIDM, I interned and worked in fashion public relations and clothing manufacturing, as well as beauty marketing and sales. Currently, I enjoy posting links to fashion lines that I think have “high fashion” content yet have price points at a level comfortable to various incomes. All of us should be able to look current with the latest fashion trends at a reasonable cost. And, maybe that “splurge” once in a while. Posts are to my Instagram and/or Liketoknowit account. In addition to my media endeavors, I have participated in a few nationally televised industry projects (one on stage for a meaningful cause at the Oscars). I work on a project basis for modeling which requires time management and a well-kept calendar. Still, I don’t let my involvement in the industry consume 100% of my time. I moved to LA for many reasons and LA certainly allows for so many pursuits. Being a small part of the creative industry is challenging but always gratifying, and I’m grateful for every opportunity!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As I’m sure many in our industry would agree, career paths are rarely smooth. As long as you have genuine intentions, strive to do the right thing, and never give up, I believe people can conquer more than they realize. Additionally, it helps to have a solid support system around you.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
For the past nine years, I have managed a non-profit that supports 501c3 charities in 18 funding areas throughout Southern California. Funding areas include animal rescue, healthcare, science, cultural, social issues, and more. It is so humbling when I have the opportunity to meet with a charity in person and see what they do. Each organization truly is a blessing to the community. I also created losangelesblog.co myself, and it was inspired by my love of Los Angeles.

What sets me apart? I’m very grateful for all that God has blessed me with. I am always competing against myself, constantly improving myself to be a better me than yesterday. My motto is me vs. me. You can never fail when you’re focused on your own lane.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
One important lesson is that who you surround yourself with matters. You need people who positively influence you and have your best interest at heart. Another lesson I have learned is you must know yourself and have a strong sense of self to make the right choices and keep your sights on positivity.
