Today we’d like to introduce you to Elle Brightly
Hi Elle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From a young age, I have been drawn to writing and music. I would write short stories and poetry to pass the time, all the while listening to music on my little butterfly radio. It wasn’t just a hobby- it was my way of expressing myself and connecting with the world around me. At one point I told my mom I wanted to be in the entertainment industry. While I had no idea where this would lead, I couldn’t ignore my passion. Already, I was writing songs and keeping a log of song ideas. My first big step on this journey was when I went on my first audition in Austin, Texas. This audition was for a spot in an all-girl singing and performance group in Europe and to my surprise…. I booked it! I would have been the youngest member of the group, and as we started to work through the details with the production company, we learned I would need to move to Europe and live there for the next year. My parents and I, along with the production company, had some heart-to-heart talks and decided that at my age it was not the best idea for me to leave home. Luckily, the production company saw my talent and offered to work with me as a solo artist. That was the pivotal moment that kickstarted my music career. From there, it was stepping stones, hard work, and other very fortunate relationships that caught the attention of a Disney producer. He produced one of my singles and that single caught the attention of a record label. Soon after I was signed with a label; Dauman Music. Working with Jason Dauman has taken me to the next level. With them, I have released two songs, “I Know Your Type” and “We” which resulted in them charting #8 and #16 respectively on the Music Week Charts in Europe. Currently, I have recorded two new singles with Dauman Music with those releases coming soon. This journey has been amazing so far and I am so grateful for every opportunity I have had through the years.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
So far it has been a relatively smooth road filled with amazing opportunities. I cannot give enough praise and I’m very thankful and appreciative of everyone who has given me an opportunity. There were some struggles associated with the pandemic. I remember filming my music video to “I Know Your Type” when Los Angeles County announced they were shutting down all businesses. We then had to film the entire video in 5 hours with a limited crew. After filming, I got on the first flight out of Los Angeles and I remember looking down at all the lights in LA County thinking “The world is going to change”. Throughout the pandemic, I continued to write lyrics and songs, so the solitude helped me, and even at this point I’m bringing those ideas and melodies into the recording studio.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a singer/songwriter based out of the South Bay and am known nationally and internationally for my dance-pop music. I am most proud of my single “I Know Your Type”, which reached #8 on the Music Week European Charts. I write the lyrics to my own music which surprises most people, especially for my age.
How do you think about luck?
Luck has been a major factor throughout my career, I feel as though I’m under a lucky star. Beginning at my first audition, I was fortunate enough to have met people who were willing to take a chance on me. Luck’s hand has guided me throughout my whole journey by connecting me with people who believe in me while also recognizing my talent and passion.
