Conversations with Elizabeth Estrada

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Estrada.

Hi Elizabeth, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a plus-size model, photographer, artist and plant enthusiast. I started modeling about six years ago. Modeling has really facilitated a lot of positive things for me, specifically being able to travel to places that I never thought I would be able to, self-love, self-discovery and has provided some financial stability.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I do not believe that any path you walk in life is going to be smooth, especially one that center’s around your appearance. However, modeling for me really made me feel liberated how people perceive me and how I perceive myself. Realizing that those are two different things but I have control over how I perceive myself and my self-worth. It’s hard not booking jobs after going to multiple castings. It definitely feels like a rejection, so it’s important to get in the headspace that you are worthy even if you are not getting consistently booked.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Working in an artistic field, I feel like it is important to able to do multiple jobs. I am kind of a Jane of all trades, master of none. However, my life is never boring and I’m very thankful for the people, animals, living things that are in my life. I am most proud of the greenhouse that my father and I have built during quarantine 2020; having a greenhouse was always a dream of mine and now I get to consistently help and watch things grow. Working with plants and the earth definitely grounds me.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I have learned so far is know who you are, do whatever it take to find out what makes you tick and what you need out of life. Try your best not to hurt others on this path of self-discovery. Help raise others up to achieve their dreams as well. It’s all a give and take really.
