Conversations with Destiny Benavidez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Benavidez.

Hi Destiny, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
There are a powerful significant series of events that happen to all of us individually leading to what we call fate or Destiny. Hi there my name is Destiny. I would describe myself as a loving and gentle spirit! I am fascinated by my connection with people, art, music, and cooking. I want to start by thanking Cynthia my mother and God for keeping me grounded. My story is illuminated from my drive to strive for more for myself and life. That regardless of my situation, my faith would conquer over fear and struggle. I have always enjoyed dancing, writing, poetry and favored theatre. I became limitless and needed space where my environment executed an extension of my love for creating. I was born in LA and grew up in the Inland Empire where I felt far away from home. I imagined a home where opportunity was infinite. I was was eager to start my own journey in the entertainment industry. I moved to Hollywood with no plan; I believed I would eventually capture my dreams along the way. I freelanced my first gigs with a background on TV shows, acted in music videos as well as short films from my friends at the New York Film Academy. I signed with Bicoastal Management becoming a professional model and actress.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My journey was tough because I thought I needed to be a perfectionist when it came to my goals. Taking my time and having fun enjoying the process made me feel joyful. The main challenge I endured was the ability to move forward after I encountered trauma from being a rape victim/survivor. During this time I gave myself time to love my path, be appreciative I am able to breathe life into my lungs. Every day I chose to make room for strength, community, and love. No matter what trials we experience we have the light within us to shine on others and the world. To keep living and enjoying the fruits of life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a multitalented independent inventive. I’m a commercial and fitness model. My commitment is my acting and modeling career. I’m working on pursuing runway and high fashion modeling. Luxuriated in cosmetology school and practicing producing music. My hobbies are skateboarding, reconstructing clothing, and cooking. We are all created beautifully in our unique way but I feel what sets me apart is my artistic view. In addition, my empathetic care to be there for others unconditionally!

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next couple of years, I see myself in an environment where the people around me are authentic, supportive, and embrace me. I see myself acting in your favorite thriller movie or sci – fi tv series. Excited to use my reconstructive clothing skills to pursue a streetwear clothing brand. I’d be blessed to create a foundation for mental health awareness groups. I always felt my purpose is to not only create but be there for others. The ability to move forward regardless of the circumstances and appreciating every moment!
