Conversations with Chiquita Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chiquita Thomas.

Hi Chiquita, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
T-Time the Lion, a hip hop rockstar with undeniable soul, was born in Richmond, Virginia and raised in Georgia, where her love for music first took root. She began her musical journey in the 6th grade and continued to sharpen her craft through high school as a member of the marching band, building a strong foundation in rhythm, performance, and discipline.
A proud Army veteran, T-Time the Lion carried that same dedication into her artistry. After completing her service, she went full throttle into music in 2019 during the COVID-19 pandemic, using it as a powerful outlet to navigate and heal through mental health challenges. Her sound reflects resilience, authenticity, and passion—blending raw life experiences with bold confidence. Today, she stands as a dynamic force in hip hop, bringing soul, strength, and star power to every track.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
T-Time the Lion’s journey in music hasn’t been easy—it’s been forged through pressure, setbacks, and moments where quitting felt like the only option. Early on, she faced a lack of real support, constantly being overlooked despite undeniable talent. Behind the scenes, she battled a painful divorce that tested her emotionally and mentally, forcing her to find strength while everything around her felt like it was falling apart.
Her path in the industry came with hard lessons. She was signed to three different labels that promised growth but delivered disappointment—taking her money and giving nothing in return. Those experiences could have broken her, but instead, they sharpened her awareness and independence.
Through it all, T-Time refused to let the industry define her worth. Every setback became fuel, every betrayal a lesson. Her story isn’t just about struggle—it’s about resilience, self-belief, and rising above the noise to claim her place as a true hip hop rockstar with soul.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an entertainment professional and entrepreneur with a strong foundation in music production and media. I specialize in beat making, as well as pre-production and post-production, bringing creative ideas to life from concept to final product. My work extends beyond the studio—I’m also a wildcard judge for Keys to the Streets, where I help discover and elevate emerging talent.
In addition, I serve as the host of Green Lounge LA TV, where I connect with artists, creatives, and industry voices, giving them a platform to share their stories. This year, I’m also launching my own nonprofit, with a focus on giving back and creating opportunities for others, especially in underserved communities.
I’m a dedicated mental health advocate, using both my voice and my platform to speak openly about real-life challenges and healing. What I’m most proud of is my ability to turn pain into purpose—whether through music, storytelling, or community work.
What sets me apart is my versatility and authenticity. I’m not just behind the scenes or in front of the camera—I do both. I create, lead, mentor, and build. I bring real-life experience, resilience, and passion into everything I touch, and that energy translates into my work and the impact I make.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My mom has been the foundation of everything I am today. Through every challenge life threw her way, I stood right by her side—just like she always stood by mine. Watching her push through pain, obstacles, and hard times taught me strength, resilience, and how to keep going no matter what. She didn’t just raise me—she prepared me for greatness. Every lesson, every sacrifice, every moment of love helped shape me into T-Time the Lion.
She’s the reason I move the way I do, the reason I believe in myself, and the reason I’m chasing stardom with no fear. Her support never wavered, and her love never changed. To me, she’s more than a mother—she’s my backbone, my inspiration, and my biggest supporter. She’s the sweetest soul and truly the best mother in the world, and everything I become is a reflection of everything she poured into me.
