Conversations with Carter Glade

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carter Glade.

Hi Carter, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Wow… where do I even begin?

My story starts on a soccer field in Munich, Germany, in the early 2000s. Growing up, my dream was to play professional soccer in the Bundesliga. I had my sights set on making it with RedBull Leipzig, but everything changed when my family moved to the United States during high school.

Soccer had always been my world, but I was also the guy constantly making my teammates laugh. That love of entertaining people slowly turned into a fascination with film and television… especially comedy. Before long, I realized I wanted to make audiences laugh just as much as I had my teammates on the field.

In 2019, I got my first big break in Universal and Blumhouse’s feature film Freaky, starring Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton. From there, I was fortunate to build momentum, working consistently across television, independent films, and studio projects, including Better Call Saul, NCIS: Hawaiʻi, and General Hospital.

I’m especially excited for what’s next. You can catch me in Netflix’s Best of the Best, starring Hasan Minhaj, premiering September 18, 26′, as well as my first leading role in the coming-of-age comedy Supermassive, where I star alongside Mark McKenna and Kelli Berglund. It’s a project that’s incredibly close to my heart, and it’s expected to premiere this fall 26′.

Looking back, it’s funny how life works. I chased one dream across an ocean, only to discover another that I never saw coming. Today, I’m grateful that I get to do what I love every day.. tell stories, make people laugh, and continue chasing the next opportunity.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, the journey hasn’t been without its struggles. Like so many actors, I’ve experienced the highs and the lows, the uncertainty, the rejection, and the moments where you question whether to keep going. But those challenges have built my character, strengthened my discipline, and deepened my love for the craft.

More than anything, they’ve taught me the importance of community. The people you surround yourself with… friends, fellow actors, filmmakers, mentors, and collaborators! Those are often the ones who remind you why you started in the first place. Supporting one another, celebrating each other’s wins, and pushing through the difficult moments together is what makes this journey so special. At the end of the day, it’s that shared passion and sense of community that keeps me inspired to keep creating and chasing the dream.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a film and television actor who has also dabbled in the world of stand-up comedy. I first broke into the industry with Universal and Blumhouse’s Freaky, starring Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work across a variety of projects for Netflix, Paramount+, Hulu, and network television, continuing to grow as both an actor and storyteller.

One of the roles I’m most proud of was in the World War II period film “Silent Night in Algona”. As a German-raised actor, being able to perform in my native language brought an added level of authenticity to the role and reminded me how valuable my background can be. Speaking both English and German allows me to become a chameleon, adapting to different worlds, cultures, and characters in a way that feels natural.

Most recently, I starred in Supermassive, a coming-of-age road trip comedy alongside Mark McKenna. We play two brothers attempting to make it to our parents’ house surprise party across country, but, as you might expect, everything that can go wrong does… leading to a hilarious, heartfelt adventure. It’s my first leading role in a feature film, and a project I’m incredibly proud to share with audiences.

What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, my goal is to continue telling stories that deserve to be heard.. whether that’s through a period piece, a drama, or a comedy. I believe film and television have the power to connect people, spark conversations, and remind us of our shared humanity.

The world can feel incredibly heavy at times, and if a performance can give someone an escape for a couple of hours, make them feel seen, or simply make them laugh, then I’ve done my job. Those moments of connection are what inspire me most as an artist.

Beyond acting, I hope to use my platform to make a meaningful difference. I’m passionate about supporting mental health initiatives and organizations like the USO that serve those who dedicate their lives to others. I believe success means very little if you’re not finding ways to give back to your community and leave the world better than you found it.

At the end of the day, that’s how I hope people remember me – not just as an actor, but as someone who used storytelling and his voice to bring people together, create empathy, and make a positive impact wherever he could.
