Hi Aviante, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Wisconsin in the late 90s, and growing up in a single-parent household instilled in me resilience and a deep appreciation for creativity. Moving between urban landscapes, I sought solace and inspiration in art, despite early struggles with self-doubt. When I relocated to Los Angeles, CA, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery, shaping my artistic identity. Today, I embrace my ambivert nature, equally comfortable in solitude or social settings. My art, influenced by my personal experiences, highlights a connection to black art and impressionism, with oil painting as my preferred medium. Motivated by a desire to inspire others, I advocate for the transformative power of art, aiming to make a positive impact on the world by encouraging creativity in all aspects of life

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It certainly hasn’t been easy. Growing up in a small, impoverished town can take a toll on one’s physical and mental well-being. I found myself in a constant struggle between making poor choices and doing what was right, all while navigating the complexities of adolescence. Despite the presence of caring and loving individuals, times were tough due to gang violence, family conflicts, mental health challenges, and financial struggles. Even affording a trip to the movies with friends on the weekend was a challenge. Realizing I wanted a better life, I left for Los Angeles to pursue my passion for art. For two months, I slept in my car and showered at a local gym until I could secure a decent job and afford my first apartment. Amongst other difficulties, The biggest hurdle was shedding the detrimental beliefs ingrained in me from my upbringing. Embracing positive reinforcement, self-love, and recognizing my own worth became crucial in my journey.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

“What do you do?”
I’m a Multidisciplinary Artist.

“What do you specialize in?”
Oil painting.

“What are you known for?”
I’m recognized for my creative talents in painting and design, as well helping people realize the importance of self love via social media. Also my role in community-building through hosting Moody R&B Paint N Sip Events. These gatherings aim to unite artists and art enthusiasts in a safe space for networking, relaxation, and creative expression, treating the art process as therapeutic.

“What are you most proud of?”
I take pride in my unwavering resilience and commitment to both art and community.

“What sets you apart from others?”
What makes me different is my advocacy for Art Therapy and the importance of creative expression. Drawing from personal experience, art has been instrumental in helping me through times of anxiety and distress. I believe creative expression is integral to every aspect of life, yet it’s often neglected in school curriculums. My mission is to raise awareness of its significance and give back to the community by nurturing the next generation of creatives.
