Today we’d like to introduce you to Anmol Sandhu.
Hi Anmol, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a born and raised Californian that grew up in the heart of the Central Valley, so the arts weren’t really supported as much. I started out with acting in theatre during middle school and carried that through high school. Combined with the school news, acting and filmmaking combined together to help me pursue a path as an actor and director. I then attended college at Cal State Monterey Bay where I received my BA in Film and then directly to grad school at Loyola Marymount University where I got my MFA in Film & TV Production.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been full of potholes, drunk drivers, clogged traffic, and police pulling me over. Navigating the film & entertainment industry in a post-pandemic, post-strike, post-wildfire, post-AI, post-tariff era has been the most soul sucking experience that frankly none of my peers expected to run into, let alone myself. Pathways to entering the industry aren’t as defined and the gatekeepers are out of reach to interact with. With that being said, I spent 7 years of my life receiving a formal education in this craft because I feel that strongly about it and can’t be deterred from pursuing that endeavor. Currently, I have found a way to make things work in regards to getting my projects made. It’s been a discipline of patience.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I consider myself as a filmmaker and multifaceted artist. My passions lie in acting and directing, but I have an affinity for editing, costume design, production design, color theory, and other creative pursuits. I think the thing that sets me apart is my willingness to be self-aware in a hybrid creative/business space. I understand the need for collaboration but the respect for personal attachment to art.
I’m most proud of the network and community that I’ve built by committing to my dreams. The cast & crews I’ve assembled together for various productions, the creative insights I’ve received from my peers, and the relatability of those who are also on this journey with me.
