Conversations with Justin Rice

Before Justin Rice became a transformation coach, published international model & actor across the globe, he had his fair share of obstacles to overcome. From being raised by a hard-working single mother who worked three jobs to put food on the table to the suffering & overcoming his beloved mother’s early death when he was 20 years old, Justin’s Journey is an example of how anybody can overcome the obstacles of their life & create their dream life. Justin thrived in the academia realm, having the privilege to spend his Junior year of High School summer on Princeton University’s campus in an Ivy League/University preparatory program. As a multi-sport athlete growing up, Justin found a love for Exercise Physiology, Nutrition, & Medicine and in doing so he enrolled at Rutgers University majoring in Exercise Science & Sports Studies with a Nutritional Science minor. During his studies, he went on to work for a research lab studying the effects of Cardiovascular Training on Psychology, helped train NFL athletes at a well-known training facility, & interned as an Athletic Trainer for Rutgers BIG10 Football team.

After his mother’s death his Junior year of college he was inspired to go after Acting & Modeling, as he always says, “Your Mind Creates Your Reality” & in with that said he went on to get published in Essence Magazine as one of the “Top Models To Watch Out For” & Tatler Magazine. Fast forward a few years, and Justin went on to be a personal trainer & is now a transformation coach helping others transform both their mindset & their physical health to create the life that they want with the tools & gifts that he has been blessed to learn. In addition, Justin wants to give back philanthropically to help raise up the community. In 2020, Justin completed a near 4,000 Mile bicycle ride across the United States from Oregon to Georgia & raised $4,000 for single mothers to help afford their homes. He is a lifestyle entrepreneur & high-performance mindset coach while pursuing a career in the acting industry. He hosts his podcast, The Justin Rice Podcast & has Founded Just Integrity Academy & Just Integrity. His mission is to help Millions of People to create the life that they dream of holistically through mindset techniques, meditation, physical fitness, & nutrition.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have certainly been some bumps along my journey of life. However, the failures & the setbacks soon become wisdom for us to get to the next portion of our lives & to help others along our way. The mistakes become lessons that we are so grateful for in hindsight. I’m not one to dwell on struggles, but there have been many challenges that have taught me many lessons. One of the most challenging times in my life was the passing of my beloved mother, Janice Clara Rice when I was in my junior year of college. She was my light. She was my everything. My mom was & is a true angle of love & her passing away when I was 20 years old was a difficult time for me.

As you can imagine, my mother & I had a true unconditional love for one another & I had so much respect for her as she worked 3 Jobs at one point… while taking care of me, 11 pets at one point in our lives (that’ll be another story one day lol- but just know that my mom LOVED animals), and still finding time to make it to my sporting events. This was a wake up call for me. A dark night of my own soul, as I was now responsible for my life. My mom passed away a few days prior to the start of the spring semester for my Junior year at Rutgers University as I was going into a rigorous semester filled with challenging science classes in preparation for Medical school at that time. There was a lot on my back at these times. I had to make the decision of going back into the semester directly after my mom’s passing, funeral arrangements, picking classes, preparing for the semester, estate ordeals, etc.

Reflecting upon the past, this time period in life was one that I would never replace because it has given me a lot of lessons about life. My mom’s life taught me about the power of love & to pursue your dreams while you are here on this planet. I now understand that I will always be capable of rising above obstacles because God has a plan for us all that is much greater. If you’re reading this, “when it rains look for the rainbows, & when it’s dark look for stars. You will be able to get through whatever obstacles come your way. I hope my story can help inspire you to create the life you desire.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My passions in life are to create art that help uplift humanity, whether that be in acting out roles for tv & film, or with sharing inspirational stories on social media, or with chatting with clients on personal transformation. I am an actor living in LA who has been published as a model & has walked the runway from NYC to India. Alongside of a blooming acting career, I have been coaching clients for the past several years with personal transformation in physical fitness/health & accomplishing their dreams. As far as my specialities go, I have a Bachelors of Exercise Science & Sports Studies from Rutgers University as well as an associate’s in Nutritional Sciences. I am also certified in the area of the subconscious mind & personal transformation through Neuro Linguistic Programming, Time Line Therapy®, & Hypnotherapy.

As I have learned from my experience with working with clients ranging from NFL athletes to people looking to lose 20+ lbs the subconscious mind is very powerful in creating results. I am known for by my friends & family as being someone that helps them find motivation & inspiration within themselves, I want to help others create the life they know their soul has been placed on this earth to live. One of my most proud moments was completing the TransAmerica bike path, biking nearly 4,000 Miles across the United States to raise over $4,000 for single mothers. We are all a fabric of each other in a way. Each one of us has a heart & is capable of living an inspired life, which is how I decided to live my life. Yes, there are some things educationally & experience-wise that separates me technically, but I believe we are all equal & are all one.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
My favorite part about the city of Los Angeles are the people that make up the city. The people who make up this city are mostly ambitious creative individuals who are inspired to create what they have been meant to create. There are so many artists & inspiring people here, that’s what I love most about Los Angeles. You probably could have guessed this one… the traffic of course.
