Conversations with the Inspiring Stacy Molter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Molter.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Fancy Shanty began in 2008 after the birth of my twin boys. As my family has grown, Fancy Shanty has flourished into a family-fun blog covering a variety of topics. Reaching new heights in 2016, Fancy Shanty became a limited liability corporation (LLC) in 2017 and received a registered trademark through the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

In 2018, Fancy Shanty opened a new marketplace. A 100% fair trade marketplace that, in partnership with artisan cooperatives that produce handcrafted items to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for families around the world, is helping community-based organizations prosper and thrive well into the future.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest struggle I have faced along the way is time. In addition to orchestrating the daily operations of Fancy Shanty, I also homeschool our four children, grades 1st through 7th, which is another topic we frequently write about on our site. But as busy as our schedules are, I wouldn’t trade getting to spend my days with our family for anything.

My biggest advice for women who have decided to blog, or even be a social influencer, is to not stress about being on all platforms, all the time. Once you decide on your focus/niche and secure the names on social platforms, pick one platform to master. Make that your focus, and master it. You can always decide to expand later, but if you don’t give yourself valuable time to build a quality business from the beginning, you’ll quickly find yourself feeling burnt out and unhappy with a less-than-desirable product.

Fancy Shanty is California’s family-fun, lifestyle blog covering a variety of topics. Whether our readers are looking for the best family travel locations, a new delicious recipe, a fun DIY project, or homeschooling tips, we have what they need to make life amazing! We are a family of travel enthusiasts sharing the best California has to offer as we set out to live life to the fullest! Our site is truly a family adventure and everyone shares a part in this journey.

One of our favorite topics to cover is film press conferences, where we have had the opportunity to interview and photograph some of Hollywood’s most famous stars and participate in some amazing red carpet venues. Getting to know each star on a more personal level has been a highlight of our careers. Like, freakin’ amazing, dream job status!

A proud moment for our brand was selling one of our most popular recipes, our Baked Cheddar and Parmesan Zucchini Sticks, to Pepperidge Farm for use on their spring half pallet and full pallet graphic panels in store around the country, two years in a row.

Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
This has always been such a hard question for me to answer because I pull inspiration from a variety of women I have met throughout my life, and not necessarily women I personally know.

For me, I tend to lean towards and find inspiration from women who support, empower, and lift up each other. It’s all about spreading kindness and purposefully helping each other succeed, not competing for each other’s successes. We need to be here for each other, to support each other, and to help each other when in need.
