Today we’d like to introduce you to Alondra Liriano.
Hi Alondra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up with a mom who was heavy on healthy eating. She made my siblings and I green juices every morning with watercress, meals with healthy fats and fiber, veggies as snacks and so on. However, growing up I never really enjoyed or appreciated the juices, I mean they weren’t the best tasting imagine watercress in a juice? It wasn’t until 2019 where the light bulb went off. I was in my sophomore year in college and I was living in an apartment with roommates at the time. I remember taking charge of my health simply because of what my mom instilled in me and remembering everything she taught and told me. I started making smoothies, healthy meals and sharing my wellness journey on my personal Instagram. I started finding healthy alternatives for food items and posting it on my Instagram story. Then like never before, I started feeling better in a holistic way, mind, body spirit. I focused more on journaling, finding moments of stillness, and surrounding myself with like-minded people.
Then in 2020, right when quarantine began, with the support of my loved ones, I created a business account “HolisticLola” on Instagram where I inspire people through holistic living. I share my tips on eating whole foods with clean ingredients, affirmations for self-awareness and self-love, how I motivate and uplift myself, how I am getting through virtual learning as a landscape architect major, and more. I do this to uplift anyone who comes across my page. I want to give back all the love that was and still is given to me. I am grateful to be able to share all I know through my wellness page and all I want is to inspire other young black creatives to do the same. I want them to know, with intuitive eating and listening to your body, you can create the life you want. It’s amazing to think that it all started with how I was intentional with what I was putting in my mouth, of course I ate whatever I want but I made sure I mainly ate plants, our bodies best friends. Now I am intentional with my entire life, constantly evolving into the woman I am meant to be.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I think when one is trying to create the life they want, they will face more obstacles than someone who is complacent with being comfortable and stagnant. When I first started eating healthy, my roommates and I at the time didn’t always cook the healthiest dishes or drink the healthiest drinks, I had to choose to eat healthy and create meals outside of what was being made. This wasn’t always the case because I do eat what I want I just make sure to be intentional with most of what I eat. Pushing through times of doubt or when I felt unworthy of sharing my story with others is the hardest thing ever. There is always that voice of fear telling you, you aren’t good enough but you must listen to the voice of hope and inspiration telling you that you are more than enough and that with your story and passion, you can help someone else follow in your footsteps. It’s all about what thoughts you decide to pay attention to, thoughts of fear or thoughts of faith.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create health & wellness content. I post smoothie and food recipes, majority of the time they are mainly healthy but I do post realistic meals too. My content is raw & real. I share lifestyle content as well, especially on my YouTube Channel: Lola Liset. I create productivity videos where I share myself doing work, motivated but never forget to share my moments of fear or whenever I am down. My biggest goal is to share not only the highlight moments in my life but also when I am at my lowest. In reality, seeing other creators being vulnerable with their journey to success is what has allowed me to feel comfortable with my own journey. I am known for creating the life I want through mindful and intuitive living. I just gracefully live life everyday to the fullest by being who I am. I share how gratitude and God has got me to where I am and continue to guide me to be the woman I am destined to be. I am most proud of how I am unapologetically who I am, I don’t put on a front and I am not scared to make mistakes or show my flaws. I am also proud of how much I have grown, the lives I impact even if it’s just one, and the resilience instilled in me from my mom. What sets me apart from others is how I am highly empathetic, I understand people and create content that shows that I uplift others in the same way I was uplifted, so they can create the life they want through holistic living.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
My main lesson learned was to be who I am unapologetically and not care what others think. I know this is cliché but it is the most accurate slogan ever. When you stop caring about what others think of you and realize everyone is in their own head worrying about their own problems, it becomes so much easier to focus on yourself and your own desires. You can work on your own goals because now you are preoccupied with how you will perform and your needs, not anyone else’s. Another important lesson I have learned is that good things take time, a lot of time. Consistency is key and everyday do something, even if it’s small, take your breaks of course, but always work towards whatever vision you have and one day it’ll come into fruition, it’s bound to. It’s the law of life.
