Today we’d like to introduce you to Regan Carney
Hi Regan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I view my journey as a stylist as more than a résumé—it’s a story that began long before high school or college. My passion for fashion sparked in middle school when I spent weekends at my local Goodwill, hunting for denim and graphic tees to transform. I would cut, fray, stud, and bedazzle my finds, reinventing them into unique pieces that I later sold on Poshmark. Back then, it was just a creative hobby that I never imagined would shape my future.
Fast forward to college, I pursued a degree in International Business and Finance. I believed studying business, coupled with the opportunity to study abroad, was my way of experiencing international fashion. I’ve always said “I don’t need to be taught fashion;” instead, I wanted the tools to build a business for fashion.
After graduating, my styling journey officially began. I started as an associate at Nordstrom in Pennsylvania—a role that taught me the power of personal styling and connecting with clients through fashion. That experience propelled me to new opportunities, taking me to Nashville, TN, and ultimately Los Angeles, CA. It was along this path that I embraced my true calling: sourcing clothing and crafting cohesive, standout looks. Styling isn’t just a job—it is my talent, passion, and purpose. With every outfit I create, I celebrate individuality and the transformative power of fashion.
Today, my passion for fashion has grown into a thriving business where I help clients transform their style and their spaces. Along with styling, I am a personal shopper and closet coordinator. I curate personalized wardrobes, rework closets to be more organized, and digitize my clients’ collections using the Whering app. By blending creativity with functionality, I empower clients to see their wardrobes as a source of confidence and ease. Whether sourcing standout pieces or streamlining a closet, my goal is to make fashion feel accessible, exciting, and uniquely theirs.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Building and maintaining a steady client base is a key challenge in the wardrobe styling business. With high competition, you’re required to build a strong brand identity and have consistent marketing to set yourself apart. Networking and word-of-mouth referrals take time, but delivering exceptional service helps foster loyalty and trusted recommendations.
Another obstacle in this business is time management when it comes to juggling shopping, fittings, and last-minute requests that can be overwhelming. Effective planning and organization are essential to ensure every client feels valued and receives high-quality service. Overcoming these challenges is key to building a reliable and successful business!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As a wardrobe stylist, my business is all about empowering individuals to feel confident, authentic, and stylish. I specialize in curating personalized looks that reflect current trends but also based on the unique personality, lifestyle, and goals of each client. I do everything from styling looks to building and digitalizing my client’s wardrobe, so we have closet access at our fingertips.
What sets me apart is my emphasis on individuality and my ability to listen and execute my client’s vision. Fashion isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s a form of self-expression. I work closely with clients to understand their preferences, challenges, and aspirations to craft looks that look and feel good.
One of the things I’m most proud of is my ability to build lasting connections with my clients. I’m not just styling outfits; I’m helping people transform how they see themselves and how the world sees them. Watching someone’s confidence grow as we refine their style is incredibly rewarding.
Readers should know that my services go beyond simply picking clothes. I offer everything from closet audits and wardrobe planning to personal shopping and styling for special occasions. I stay ahead of trends while prioritizing timeless style, sustainability, and pieces that truly align with a client’s life. No matter the budget! My brand is about more than fashion—it’s about creating a life filled with confidence, authenticity, and beauty, one look at a time.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I owe a great deal of credit to the individuals who have trusted me and supported my growth as a wardrobe stylist. Collaborators who value my expertise have played a key role in helping me think bigger and pursue opportunities to expand my work and impact. Their encouragement has been a constant source of inspiration and motivation.
I’ve been fortunate to have a network of supportive clients, mentors, and colleagues who have championed my work. Their trust, referrals, and belief in my abilities have been instrumental in helping me refine my skills and continue to build my dream business.
