Community Highlights: Meet Loui Cuenca of Dblthegs is an LA streetwear clothing brand

Today we’d like to introduce you to Loui Cuenca.

Hi Loui, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Loui Cuenca , music artist , and ceo of DBLTHEGS clothing brand.
A little about myself.
I grew up in East Hollywood. Don’t let the name misguide you, a few wrong turns and you’ll end up in a dead end. I say that to say, growing up on this side of Hollywood not only introduced me to the cinema/ production side of town but also the reality of inner city communities. I grew up exchanging clothes with all of my friends, from shirts to shoes and hats, whatever .
We didn’t have top name brands but we made it work. Hollywood gave me style. Walking down any street in Hollywood, you can guarantee yourself you’ll find anything worth inspiring, whether it be in a positive manner such as finding yourself in a show in the middle of the street hosted by street dancers or musicians, or looking at any corner in front of you to find that addict strung out ready to attack at any moment, showing you what life is capable of becoming. And also how long of a spectrum Hollywood carried. These thoughts led me to think I can be anything or anyone I wanted to be, but first , I need to jump these hurdles life has laid out for me. It only turned me into a go getta.
Run ins with the law were inevitable for a kid who went out to go get it. But with free thought, it felt only right to express myself in the ways I knew. I got into music with the help of Ferg and Jp who had passion in music making. I learned to make music but ended up being my therapy , recording almost everyday for 3+ years gave me the relief I needed but also, I learned structure and the little details nobody really notices in songs. However, creating my own clothing designs became my form of communication without a mic. Oversized looks with a go getta mentality with ambitious messages through our designs was the start of something Im proud to see today.
What would you make out of the pretty and ugly ?

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
“To get to this point baby I had to lose.” Taking music serious wasn’t something I saw myself or anyone for that matter really doing. Hate was at my door. Fake love was in my face. But music was like I said , therapy , I needed no validation nor was I doing it for fame nor money. Finding my sound was ten times easier when having a working engineer who, is also your good friend, work with you to create a feeling on a song, trying new things out, struggle a lil, but it’s that beautiful struggle feeling.
Everything had to go wrong before it went right when it came to creating a clothing line. Had a lot of homework to do and a lot of money to run through before finding what works.
I believe all great stories have their roller coaster moments or full amusement park, better said. The path isn’t going to be easy when it comes to creating work you just NEED to master. But through trial and tribulation , a step forward is always taken.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Im grateful to have a small team that helps me make dblthegs what it is. Throughout the first year of business , we were able to attract some customers and acquire a solid image and following. I also took the time to step global by handing out our OGG Want it? Go get it. Stay True design shirts but in a green/white/red color scheme. Met with many local go getters from my parents town in Jalisco, Mexico and it was a very humbling experience but overall felt good to give back in the way I can. Kelvin , another team member, also was able to give out bucket hats and summer wear in his hometown in San Salvador. With plans to visit Belize later this year to do the same, it’s only the beginning of how far we want to go with our mission statement. We were also grateful enough to sell out in our OGG logo design in the dodger blue color way, while selling outside the stadium on sunset blvd after the World Series win against the Yankees. What a time. I’m proud of the team and I but this is just getting started. We offer clothing and accessory wear but hope to be successful in our future luxury line that with launch with items such as Satin duchess silk with homemade designs , or our double lined hoodie hoping to release end of 2025. When you aren’t in it for money, it becomes alive in you, it becomes you. Go getta is the mindset, Dblthegs is the lifestyle . Stay True.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Staying true to yourself and loved ones is key to success in my book. I try to stay grounded by using my tools. My family, my close friends, my girlfriend, the gym , prayer, and my microphone.
