Today we’d like to introduce you to one of the co-founders of Lenu Agency, Krys Khloe.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, I’m Kryskhloe (@kryskhloe) the CEO and Co-Founder of Lenu Agency (@lenaugency) – a creative marketing agency specialized in growing retail & wholesale brands on fashion, beauty and wellness! I’m also the COO of @shopmamamoor (a curated shop for mamas to shop for baby stuff and clothing) & @shopeveryreason (every freshness of home & car air fresheners and diffusers) and I have a passion for scaling brands.
Ever since I was in school, I loved being part of a community and making A.S.B signs and creating campaign ideas for school. I ran won for Vice President and President and starting with a young age as a small leader definitely helped shape me to who I am today. I went to UC Berkeley to study environmental law and interned for Marketing (back when Marketing wasn’t all about social media) and graduated in 3 years to go to a 2 year accelerated law school but I shifted gears and went into Finance, Consulting, back into law then tried out Trademark & Patent law and Entertainment Law at 21st Century Fox. I quickly realized entertainment law isn’t as glamorous as I thought (although I did see many famous actors at the lot) and I went into employment law to help those exploited at work or with non-paid overtime, assaults and what not. I became a paralegal and on the side, I’m pursuing the life of an influencer (@kryskhloe) with paid collaborations and consulting fashion brands on social media marketing. I definitely had fun going to brand events, being a host at MNET or for Koreaboo and even designing my own sunglasses with Jins Eyewear.
Oh, I also tried to pursue many businesses especially my passion in fashion and created a label “The Nu Brand” – apparel for people to match with their pets. Quickly realized that creating and building a brand is much harder at the age of 25 and there was no one to teach me any of that. I took a three months crash course on graphic design and marketing and then later, I got recruited for marketing at a leading wholesale platform right before taking my baby bar exam to become a lawyer. This was a crucial part of life because it changed my career forever. I went all in with marketing and basically started at a company where they did not have a marketing team. I grew their email marketing and created a system for pumping our emails, grew their Instagram from 3,000 followers to over 57,000 followers with niche influencers, the right content of try-on hauls and live shows and focused on a building a community of boutiques and retailers and much more. I also had the experience of running 6 figures ads on social media and Google and there was definitely a lot of self-teaching. Then through a lot of convincing others and even myself (leaving my stable 6-figure paying job I was comfortable with), I started my very own creative marketing agency with my business partner and Co-Founder, Jina. It’s been one heck of a ride and I realized everything leading up to this point, God definitely had His own plan and everything happened for a reason. So if you’re reading this, don’t lose hope and you’ll be able to figure it out in your own time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey was definitely not an easy or smooth one. There was a lot of bumpy trials & errors in aligning my passions to my purpose. That’s why Jina and I are launching our very own podcast, note to us (@noteto.us), in November 2022! To write notes to ourselves and our audience (our younger selves) to share our journey on wellness, success and all the struggles in between! We really want to be able to create a transparent community to inspire, help and share our experiences and wisdom. I’m hoping that speaking out loud about dating advice, career interviews, finding your passion and even all the struggles can help and inspire those who are listening. Stay tuned for our podcast series on Apple & Spotify!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Lenu means “the naked” agency in French. At Lenu Agency, we’re really big on transparency and honest communication within our team and with our clients. We truly focus on building a brand and with that, a brand must have strong, consistent branding on all platforms (social, email, website, and ads). For all of our clients, we create or re-do a brand style guide before we start our services so we’re on the same page and have a clear mission statements, fonts, colors and buyer persona(s). We definitely specialize in growing brands in retail & wholesale industries – wholesale as “b2b – business to business” platforms or business selling to boutiques/retailers and not end consumers. We have over 10 years combined in the wholesale industry, so we truly understand the language, process and how to market and sell wholesale products.
We are a one-stop marketing, creative & design agency providing everything from graphic design, social media management, trade show booth design, custom retail or wholesale websites to full serviced photography/videography. We customize packages for each of our clients because every client’s needs are different. We listen to our client’s main goals and budgets to create customized packages and personalized services. We’re most proud that most of our clients are with us since the beginning of our launch! That means we’re doing something right and we love growing with our clients. We always tell our clients – think of Lenu Agency as an extension of your brand as your marketing team and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We only take on a few clients per month so feel free to check us out on www.lenuagency.com or reach out to us [email protected]!
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I actually enjoyed building a community whether it be at school, work or church. I created new organizations or clubs within my school or church and just truly loved creating things. I enjoyed leadership and creative things like cutting my t-shirts to a butterfly crop top, adding paint to my jeans, custom cards and just thinking outside the box. Although I can be shy, I loved the thrill when I go on stage to speak in front of others or when I performed with my dance team. My interests growing up was creating anything interesting, dancing in the spotlight and making art (And I guess you can say that I haven’t changed much since then).
In my 20s, I really enjoyed being a lifestyle influencer and networking at events. I loved traveling and working during my travels to make content. I document everything on my phone just for memories. I was scared to post too much or too little content and I’m notorious for overthinking to the point of never doing anything.
Now in my 30s, I’m just going to do what I want to do and post what I want to do and TRY not to overthink too much because at the end of the day, no one really cares enough. I don’t mind being in front of the camera but I prefer to shoot the content behind the lens now. Because I’ve been in front of the camera before, I know the angles when directing models at our photo shoots or shooting several video content in one day. I think I tried different industries from Legal to Finance because I get bored easily so I constantly thought of new business ideas since I was in my teens. And to this day, I have so many business ideas that I want to pursue but I have to take it one step at a time. Focusing on one business to scale is crucial right now so I’m mainly focusing on Lenu Agency right now. Would mean so much if you could check us out and give us a follow on social!
