Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Sanchez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been into skincare for as long as I can remember. Even growing up, my big brothers would ask me to help with their skin, and I was always exploring tools and natural methods to care for them. That curiosity never really left — it just kept evolving.
As an adult, I started getting body sugaring treatments and completely fell in love with how my skin felt — soft, smooth, healthy. That experience inspired me to learn more. I got licensed as an esthetician in 2019 and began blending my early love for skincare with my passion for sugaring to create something of my own.
While building my home-based skincare studio, Kris Skincare, I’ve continued to work as a preschool teacher — a role that’s shaped the way I care for others. Teaching has taught me patience, creativity, and the importance of creating safe, welcoming spaces, and that naturally carries over into how I show up for my clients.
Located in Mar Vista, my studio offers facials and body sugaring in a private, cozy setting — unrushed and far from the typical high-traffic spa experience. I offer flexible evening and weekend appointments, perfect for anyone looking to reset, recharge, or simply take time for themselves.
At the heart of it all, I love helping people feel cared for, supported, and confident in their skin.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been easy — but it’s been real, and that’s what matters to me.
Balancing teaching full-time and running a skincare business takes a lot of time management. I’m limited in how many hours I can offer, but the time I do give comes from a place of real passion. When I’m working evenings or weekends, it’s not just to fill a schedule — it’s because I genuinely love this work and the people it brings into my space.
One of the challenges I’ve come across is that I’m not working out of a big commercial spa — and for some, that can be unfamiliar at first. But what I offer is a professional, spa-quality experience — from the products I use to the equipment I’ve invested in — all in a more personalized setting. As a solo esthetician, I’m your point of contact from start to finish, which creates a deeper level of connection and trust. There’s no walk-through traffic, no noise from other treatment rooms — just focused time, quality service, and real care.
Balancing my work as a teacher with my skincare business is something I’ve learned to navigate well — and it’s something I’ll continue to refine as I grow. I feel proud to be pursuing two paths I’ve always felt connected to. The hope is to eventually transition into skincare full-time, but for now, I feel deeply fulfilled showing up for both passions in a way that feels aligned and intentional.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Kris Skincare is a space I built with care — it reflects everything I love: connection, comfort, and natural beauty. I offer body sugaring for all genders, classic and advanced facials, back facials, vajacials, and a range of add-on treatments like LED therapy, high frequency, and hydrating jelly masks. I specialize in personalized treatments that are tailored to what your skin actually needs — not just what’s trending.
What clients often tell me they love most isn’t just the glow they leave with — it’s the experience. From the moment they walk in, they comment on how peaceful the space feels, how good it smells, and how the energy is calming and grounded. My studio is tucked away in the city but feels worlds apart — filled with plants, soft light, and no distractions. It’s a space to reset and feel completely at ease.
I also handcraft my own line of small-batch, organic face oils and hair serums, including my hydrating face oil, made with clean, nourishing ingredients. I carry a curated selection of locally made products from other women-owned businesses as well. Everything I use and offer is rooted in quality, simplicity, and care.
What sets me apart is that I’m not just offering a service — I’m offering space to slow down, feel good in your skin, and be cared for with thoughtfulness and consistency. I’m proud of the business I’ve built, and even more proud that I’ve stayed true to myself while growing it. Every product, every treatment, every moment is created with care.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
While I’ve built Kris Skincare on my own, I wouldn’t be where I am without my clients. Their trust, loyalty, and word-of-mouth support have meant everything. I’ve been lucky to create genuine connections through this work — with people who not only return, but refer their friends, share kind words, and root for my growth. That kind of support is what keeps this going, and I’m truly grateful for it.
