Community Highlights: Meet Joann Escalante-Alviz of Liv & Bloom

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joann Escalante-Alviz.

Hi Joann, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I created LIV & BLOOM to be a source of encouragement, empowerment, and doubtless self-belief. I want every woman to feel and look their best, conquer their passions and reach their wildest hopes and dreams. LIV & BLOOM exists to elevate every woman to “LIV” & “BLOOM” into the women they’ve always hoped to be.

To me, clothing and fashion are more than just clothing and fashion. How you feel about yourself can do a lot and I would love to help women dress to impress. While LIV & BLOOM offers sweet and sophisticated women’s clothing pieces, I truly hope that the clothing pieces fuel their self-belief and self-motivation.

LIV & BLOOM is named after my daughter Liv. Since having children, my mindset has changed so much about dreams, goals, and hopes. While I always have had more than one pipe dream, I never got a chance to take action on anything else but my nursing career. By trade, I am a Family Nurse Practitioner and I have been a nurse for the past 15 years. I’ve built LIV & BLOOM in my head for many years but it wasn’t until encouraging my daughter that she could do anything she pours her heart into that I got the confidence to take the leap! So, here I am trying to pour my heart into this dream of mine.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but I did not expect it to be. We all have heard the saying that, “Nothing worthwhile comes easy.” One of my biggest challenges in starting LIV & BLOOM is being a one-woman team for the business, on top of working my full-time day job, and being a wife and a mother of two preschoolers.

LIV & BLOOM is in the emerging and learning phases of a completely new business and I am confident that as I continue to learn in this business that it will one day reach the potential I believe it can reach.

What I would love our consumers to know about LIV & BLOOM are our values. Yes, we are a Women’s Clothing Boutique but we don’t want to just be known for what we do on the surface. Beneath us selling sweet and sophisticated women’s clothing, we have many deep values.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice for those who are just starting out is simply, JUMP! Take the leap! It’s the culmination of small steps to get you to your bigger picture!
