Community Highlights: Meet Hallie Avolio of Sassy Healthy Fit by Hallie Avolio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hallie Avolio.

Hallie Avolio

Hi Hallie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up believing that I was meant to follow a certain path. In fact, I thought everyone was meant to follow a certain path.

I believed as soon as you were born, you were assigned a checklist, and to live a perfect life, your job was to check off all the boxes – in order – and then everything would be great.

For the most part, I was GREAT at checking off the boxes. I got excellent grades in school. I tried many different extracurricular activities. I had a lot of friends (most of the time). I got invited to parties and other events. I participated in school plays and student council elections. I got into a great university, and then later, when I decided to transfer, I got into 3 more excellent schools.

Life went on like this for more than 3 decades. I got married to my college sweetheart (celebrating 21 years in 2024!). I had 3 healthy pregnancies (my 3 children are amazing). I bought a condo in my mid-twenties. I received promotions in my corporate job. I got awards for being in the top 10% of the company. I made a lot of money.

I should have felt successful. I should have felt like I had done it all. I should have felt like checking off all those boxes made me perfect and loved and accepted and great.

But the thing is… it didn’t. I didn’t really feel any of those things. I felt stressed and like I tried to keep up with everyone else and yet I always fell a little short. I felt like I was never satisfied and never enough. By the time I hit 36, I started to feel frustrated with my life.

Why did I spend all this time checking off all the boxes, and yet, I still don’t feel like I’m enough?

The logical choice would have been to have had enough self-awareness in my mid-thirties to begin diving in deep to personal development work. Or even to find a therapist. However, I wasn’t in a place where those felt available, so I took a different route. The route of self-destruction. I started to pull away from the most important relationships in my life. I found myself increasingly angry and frustrated. I did everything I could to distance myself from the checkbox life I had pursued and created.

And then I hit my first rock bottom…

I was so sad. So disappointed in myself. My health was a mess. I was exhausted. I was drinking too much. I had gained back the weight I had been so proud to have lost. I felt disgusted when I looked at myself in the mirror.

And in my dark moment full of self-loathing while staring at myself in a dressing room mirror at a local boutique, I felt somewhere inside me a voice that said, “You are going to figure this out. And you are meant for more.”

I’m not sure there was an actual voice, but the feeling was definitely there.

It was very challenging, but I decided to do the work. I decided to look at my life and figure out what was hurting me so much.

And on that journey to self-awareness, growth, self-acceptance, and eventually self-love – I realized that my gift was not only to do this work for myself, but to help others do this work too. I knew that if I was able to change my life and make systemic changes in who I am – I could help others do the same.

That’s when I decided to start my own business and eventually get into coaching.

Now, 8 years later, I am still working on myself – but from a completely different place. I now know that I am worthy and enough without question. I have embraced a practice and philosophy based in both mindset and intuition to change my life and in turn, to help others change theirs.

I am proud of the work I do. I am also in love with my life.

I’m so grateful I never gave up on myself, my marriage, or my children.

This life just keeps getting better and better, and it is an honor to help others find their beautiful life that makes them feel the same joy.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As I mentioned before, it has not been a smooth road. But I don’t think that anyone’s journey is linear or without obstacles.

That said, I know the obstacles are opportunities for me to grow and discover even more about myself and the world around me.

For example, in 2020, when the pandemic hit, everyone was suffering. It was such a weird time for all of us, but it really gave me pause because I was trying to begin leading live events for my business at the time. As soon as the world shut down, I had to pivot and look at this obstacle as an opportunity.

I decided to learn how to use Zoom and other live-stream apps to follow my heart and my mission to help others reconnect.

I was disappointed I couldn’t pursue hosting live/in-person events, but then I began my virtual coaching business and connected with people all over the world. It was the most beautiful miracle!

Our struggles help us build strength and resilience. Our opportunity is to see the roadblock as a learning curve. And to strengthen ourselves as we navigate whatever life throws at us.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Sassy Healthy Fit by Hallie Avolio?
I started my business as a place for women to reconnect to themselves mind, body, and spirit. Over the past 5 years, it has evolved into an international coaching business focusing on 3 key pillars: Relationship to Self, Relationship to Others, Relationship to Money & Time.

My approach to coaching is unique and based on my personal experience and growth. I believe that when I do this work from a place of personal knowing and self-leadership, I serve my clients in the most effective way, and in turn, they help make this world a better place.

For my brand, the combination of Mindset + Intuition is the framework to help you take ACTION to live what I call your F*ck Yes Life.

This means that you are living your life NOW the way you feel your best. You are confident that you have the tools you need to find your joy, ease, success, wealth, and freedom. Success is not measured by the amount of money we have in the bank, the perfect image we project on social media, or the types of clothes we wear, but rather by the measure of how CONNECTED we feel to ourselves every single day.

My mission is to help women reconnect to that powerful place within. That place they have lost. That place of personal power that comes from cognitively knowing who you are and embodying the energy of who you are becoming all at the same time.

What I’m most proud of with Sassy Healthy Fit is how we continue to serve and support women all around the globe in living their F*ck Yes Life. This coaching work is about systemic change… and I see that through the actions my clients are taking through our work together.

I want readers to know that coaching is available to everyone and when you are ready to invest time and money into yourself, you give yourself a beautiful gift.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I make me happy. After many years of working on myself – I realized that I make myself happy because I know where to find the happiness I desire.

For example, I love to take walks. When I’m in the mood to walk and be in nature or walk and catch up with a friend, that walk makes me the happiest person in the world.

I also love to spend time with my family, and that makes me happy. When I desire to cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie with my husband and kids, that makes me the happiest person in the world.

The biggest lesson I have learned about happiness is that it has to stem from within. Happiness is not something you get because you are doing something else. It is not extrinsic. When you are happy within, your happiness is amplified by the things on the outside. When you are not happy within, nothing else will make you feel happy.
